The only 2 teams I would accept being ranked ahead are Bama and LSU. My top 3 preseason ranking at this point would be:

1. LSU
2. Ark
3. Bama

But I could see it in any order with these 3. Best thing Arkansas has going for it is that both the Bama and LSU games are at home in Fayetteville. I like Arky's chances to at least split those games and end up 11-1.

Typical delusional R-Kansas fan Memo to R-Kansas fans you don't have a championship defense to play with the big boys

I don't think there's any more of a chance that we'll be ranked that high than this past year. We'll have to earn our ranking. That's not necessarily a bad thing. We're still gonna have a chance to knock off a couple of the highest ranked teams. A lot of good teams don't get that chance.

I could see top 5. There are questions on our defense, as always, but Haynes showed me something in the Cotton Bowl. Give him 9 months to install his terminology and his system, and our defense might be top 20.

Schedule is definitely in our favor.

that will never happen. You guys will be lucky just to be top 10. I don't think you Arky fans live in a realistic planet.

You lose:

Jarius Wright, Joe Adams, Grant Cook, Grant Freeman, Jake Bequette, Jerico Nelson, Jerry Franklin, Elton Ford, and Tramain Thomas.

I mean damn, Your D is pretty much starting over.

Won't start out top three, but they will have plenty of opportunities to earn a spot up there. Their toughest road game will be USCe so the schedule is pretty favorable. Their O-line MUST play better this season, and that could be helped by K Davis making defenses respect the run more. Also they will need their D-line to step up because that is a key component in all of the Championship SEC teams. I have to say Arky and Bama are really the only teams on LSU's schedule that worry me next year.

But I can't bash you for being optimistic, because Arkansas has finally become a consistent contender in the SEC, instead of the team that sneaks up on you every 4 years or so.

LSU, Alabama, and USC will be the top 3 in some order. I'd assume Oregon and Oklahoma would round out the top 5.

Arkansas will start top 10. They will finish higher than they are ranked in the preseason though, IMO.

Jon H....I am now a big of fan of Arky as anyone... but "the dream" dies the minute the ball is kicked versus bama...maybe the year after next depending on how many of LSU juniors declare for the 2013 draft.

I don't think so. We all know Arky's problem hasn't been their offense, it's been the defense. They lost a pretty good amount of playmakers on the defensive side of the ball, ad I've yet to see some others show that they can play as good as the ones that left. Plus, let's also mention that Greg Childs, Jarius Wright, and Joe Adams are also gone.

That being said, top 10 (maybe right at 10), not top 5 or top 3.

I'm probably one of the very, very few LSU and/or non-Ark fans that think they have a legit shot to win the West next year. I'm not predicting they win it, but they seem to play Alabama (losing quite a few starters, and playing earlier in the year) and LSU better at home, no matter how good they are.

With that said, I predict LSU will win the West next year, but will not blow out Arkansas like they did this year. It will be a tight game.

Very early prediction, but wth.
