Interesting, talking about flukes.

Alabama was a 37 yard field goal away from playing Michigan in the Sugar Bowl. All with an Okie State kicker who had missed only 3 out of 20 attempts.

You didn't win your division.

Didn't win your conference.

Yet still made it to the championship game. Pretty flukish if you ask me.

Alabama was definitely better than LSU this year, no doubt. Just thought I'd point out that more than a few flukes tookplace this season.

That's how it should and will be remembered. That's what it's was. The game itself and the stat sheet from 11/5 made it seem likely it was fluke.

Now it's official. Now it's proven beyond a shadow of the doubt. An absolute beatdown, an exposure, a humiliation of LSU and inarguable hard proof that's that what it was.

Nothing was humiliating for LSU this season.

Never have I seen a fanbase boast so loudly about a victory, and then have it absolutely proven to them that they just got lucky. Pardon me for enjoying it a bit.

Nothing about November 5th was lucky. We walked into your stadium and came out with a win. Alabama is better than LSU, but they aren't 21 points better. So was 21-0 a fluke as well? The answer is obviously no, because it's football. There is no such thing as flukes. You usually play one time, which is hardly a good indication of who is better when two relatively evenly matched teams take the field. You need more than one game. You need more than two games. And three, and four, and five. But that can't happen. So you have to go out on the field and earn it. You earn EVERYTHING you are awarded. Nothing more, nothing less.

LSU walked into Bryant-Denny Stadium and earned a win. Alabama walked into the Superdome on Monday and earned a win, in dominating fashion.

LSU deserves to be the 2011 SEC Champions. As a fan, I'll always have 9-6. I'll always have November 5th. I'll never forget it. It was one of the best moments of my life, in terms of LSU football. And you know what, Monday night didn't spoil that at all for me.

Alabama deserves to be the 2011 National Champions. They were the best team in the country, and they earned it out on that field Monday night. That's it. And I'm sure as an Alabama fan, you'll always have that. And you should. I'm sure it was a special moment for you, and for the Crimson Tide fanbase as a whole.

Monday night was an empty feeling. The most empty feeling of my entire life. It's hard to rationalize. I'd been to every game. To Dallas, all the way to Morgantown (WV), to Knoxville, to Atlanta. I was in love with this team. It was my favorite LSU team of my lifetime, which says a lot. And as I heard the Dome echo with the "Rammer Jammer" chant, all I could do was stand and applaud my team as they walked off the field into the tunnel one last time this season. For Brandon Taylor, for Morris Claiborne, for T-Bob Hebert, for Sam Montgomery. They deserved it. It's a shame more LSU fans didn't do the same.

I'm sure it they won't be remembered as SEC Champions. But no matter what, they always will be. It's not about Alabama for us. It's about LSU. At least that's how it should be. We will never be Alabama. And you know what, that's okay. We're LSU, and I'm proud of what we accomplished.

But congratulations to Alabama. 2011 National Champions. Well deserved. Definitely the best team in the country.

You're absolutely right, a fluke kept Bama from the division title, and a fluke kept Bama from the conference title.

And a fluke kept OK State from also being undefeated.

It should've been undefeated Bama v. undefeated OK State in the BCSNC. And no fluke could've stopped us from winning that one.

Absolutely. With the schedule you guy's played, it would have been a travesty for you not to be undefeated.

No I will not pardon you for anything. It was a beatdown, no doubt. The LOSS earlier in your backyard was not a fluke. YOU LOST. You are tied with LSU, not ahead. You have to live with 9-6 just like we have to live with 21-0.

As a neutral observer, I somewhat agree with the OP. LSU was beaten soundly when both teams had ~40 days to prepare.

Seriously? I don't believe they are struggling to live with 9-6. How does you feel about the UK loss in 07 (I think it was 07).

I've said it before, completely unbiased here.

Alabama looked like the better team in that 9-6 loss.

ketchup==no California is not disinterested in football. In the LA area there are 18 million people and most certainly they are not all football fans, but those that are are as hopped up on the game as anywhere else. La supported two NFL teams, UCLA and USC for years.
