At first glance LSU's offense looks like a high school's in that it relies on the run and seems to be nothing more than a few plays run over and over. It is only after close examination that one understands that the simplicity is overshadowed only by its efficiency.

For example, LSU's passing offense is rated 105 out of 120 schools. This metric only looks at passing yardage per game. But LSU is rated 19 in passing efficiency. Why? Because passing efficiency includes TDs, INTs, yards per attempt, et cet. LSU is rated above ARK in passing efficiency. LSU doesn't throw often but when they do, they are very efficient. Over 8% of passing attempts result in a TD.

Another factor that partially explain's LSU's undefeated season is that they do not turn the ball over. LSU has thrown 4 INTs all year.LSU has 4 fumbles. They have 30 takeaways and lead the country in TO margin.

Combine this with the country's best punter and punt return coverage and you have a lot of short fields.

Add in one of the most powerful rushing attacks which controls the clock and you have an undefeated season.

That is without mentioning a disruptive ball-hawking defense. If bama beats this team, they deserve the NC.

a bunch of other things that don't show up on the stat sheets are the many, many ways that LSU can and will score on their opponents.

the return game, key turnovers giving short fields, just anything and everything.

when looking at stats, people always, always, always overlook shite like that.

It's an opportunistic style all over the field.

If Bama beats this team, it will be 1-1.

I think if LSU can go this game without a turnover they will tie NCAA record fewest in 1 season.

Bama's offense is the same exact way. Jesus H. Christ.

If Bama wins they will be national champions, but that doesn't mean it will be deserved over LSU. Going 1-1 against the best team in the country shouldn't get Bama the title, especially when you consider opponents played by both and LSU winning at Bama.

If this is the immediate presumption of LSU's offense then Bama's must come off as a group of kids in the sandlot just handing the ball off to the biggest/fastest kid in the neighborhood and telling him to run with it.

You gumps are the very best with stats. I have a gumpy neighbor(we are friends by the way)who bombards me with stats all the time. Not just against LSU, but any team Bama has EVER played.

Excellent job

Someone finally gets it. Short fields because of defense, special teams and turnovers.

Their is one more thing, we lead the league in sacks and sacks allowed. Not to mention scoring offense

That's close, jddawg58. However, "old school" is far more apropos. Deadly execution will normally result in positive plays regardless of the simplicity.
