what makes LSU #1 is that it is in a state w/ a lot of talent w/ no instate competition from significant D-1 programs. the State of Alabama doesn't have as much talent as Louisiana and it has to be divided up between Auburn and Bama. This also includes resources like donors, corporate sponsors, etc.

Who cares? It is an opinion of one person / group and every one has an opinion. A top ten job is a top 10 job at the end of the day anyway.
Whether in that writer's opinion AU is the best job in the country or the 7th best job, makes no difference at all.
