Chavis has replaced Saban as the best defensive coach in the nation

LSU has the last two Jim Thorpe awards(Best defensive back) and the last two Bednarik(Best defensive player). Kirby Smart may have won in 09, but that was Saban, don't kid yourself.
Since winning the title in the 2009 season, Saban has not been the same. They lost to South Carolina last year. The one game they had to get up for this year, they lost.
Before LSU, he had held 11 different coaching jobs over 27 years with eight different teams. He had averaged 2.6 years on the job before landing in Baton Rouge.
He's not what he used to be.

i never felt saban was the best defensive coach in the nation. i know he was (and is) damn good at coaching the backfield and he's damn good at the overall defensive scheme but the best? no. i think chavis, with cooper and haley are indeed the best this year. and they have the players to make them the best too.
