I’m thrilled Sheppard has seized his opportunity with immediate success, but a lot of coordinators have a good season or two before getting figured out by the rest of the league. Sustained success is what separates the great from the good, and that’s something that remains to be seen.

Furthermore, the college game is a completely different beast, one that you should have tremendous appreciation for, and experience in, before taking a job like the LSU one.

If Sheppard wasn’t a Tiger, we wouldn’t be having this conversation at all, and that should tell you everything you need to know.

Ain’t no way Lane would not want to deal with New York media

I'm inclined to agree; it's possible the allure of the New York media might have a certain kind of appeal to a seasoned, professional troll like Lane. He could achieve his final form there.

I pay attention to my phone every day, all day... thanks a lot, Dan, for the worthless advice

Have you considered changing it up and not paying attention to your phone every day, all day? Maybe that'll lead to legitimate coaching news.

I can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not because he does this after literally every game

Yes, but there was a certain bittersweet nuance to this particular visor toss.
Feels like LSU “insiders” are getting played, more like.
That game felt like an exorcism. Bobby's little meltdown was a fine cherry on top.
Yeah, that was some real emotion there. You have to be happy for Frank Wilson.
I'm proud of these Tigers. An ugly victory, but one they fought for and earned!

Smart, selfless play by Berry.

Indeed. You love to see it!

I think I can go back to having a soft spot for LSU as well.

This team is really good and could beat anyone on the right day. It’s become a trademark of Marcus’ teams that they play their best football at the end of the year.

I think our kicking game and iffy play in short yardage situations will probably prevent us from winning it all, but this is one of the 6 - 8 best teams in the country right now.

Genuinely, I'm looking forward to seeing how they fare in the playoffs.
Let's make that miss the final nail in their coffin. Grind out a 5-minute drive, please.
That was a lovely scramble and toss there by MVB - making it look easy.

we are no where near good enough to care about how we look when moving the ball

Fair point.
I mean, I'm glad we're moving the ball, but it's almost embarrassing to rely on gimmick play after gimmick play to do so.
Now that we've rid ourselves of Brian Kelly, and Notre Dame fans will be off our damn backs, I can return to a less clouded appreciation of what this current, Marcus Freeman-led iteration is accomplishing on the field.

Imperfect as they are, they're no longer the entirely overvalued enterprise of the past few decades; the talent and coaching has risen to the task of modern college football.

Remember when it was 3rd and 19?
I have to say, I did not anticipate the defense stepping up there. Well done.

I apologize for underestimating your team's remarkable choking ability. You have my condolences.
Every few moments, Arky shows off why they're 2-7. It's appreciated.

Anything is possible, but you're dealing with an equally underachieving force. Have a little faith that you'll be able to at least match their woeful nature.
