Malik Jackson: 56 TTs, 11 TFL, 2.5 sacks, 10 QBH, 1 FF (12 games)
Fletcher Cox: 49 TTs, 12.5 TFL, 4 sacks, 3 QBH, 1 FF (11 games)
How is Jackson average compared to Cox, since you're all about stats for All-SEC lists?

quote:Really wanted to put him 1st team due to him having 140+ tackles. But Jarvis Jones has to be on the list due to his 13.5 sacks, also Dont'a, Upshaw and Jones all making the cut for the Butkus (nation's top LBer) award pretty much means they're the best LBer's in the conference.
The list would be a joke if Tervathen is left off the first team and Guy 2cd team.

I didn't post stats. I mentioned his draft status, winning DL of the week, and that his production matches the former.

Danny was snubbed for that award.
You know if he was playing for LSU or Bama, he would be up for that award.
Plus, since he was snubbed, he went on a tear....he was averaging 17 tackles/game and has gotten several INT's and 2 sacks the past 4 games.

Fair response.
SEC will be represented in the upcoming draft in the first 2/3 rounds.

Instead of bitching about sumones opinion why don't you make your own fricking list. The SEC is once again stacked with great defensive players, not everyone wil get properly recognized.

quote:Yeah I agree, personally I'm a Trevathan fan. I thought it was horse shite he didn't make the cut and Upshaw did. I think Upshaw has about 100 less tackles, 3.5 more sacks and 3 less INTs. But at the end of the day he made the cut for the award and that makes his resume stronger.

You're just another white noise poster. My problem is that I see these every year and they are horribly put together
the op was just starting a thread about something other than The Rematch. he never said his list was set in stone, in fact, he seems happy to have a civil discussion about his choices.

Seriously? I guess the fact that Alabama has one hell of a front seven doesn't make tackles hard to come by. Or maybe the insane amount of three and outs doesn't decrease the amount of opportunities for creating a possible tackle. Plus, Upshaw is a Jack LB. He's lined up at DE as much, if not more, than he is at LB.

I love the Grind from you in thris thread
Yes, Cox will be 1st team All SEC in every post season publication. 3 straight weeks being SEC lineman of the week, with another one or two to spare, speaks for itself.

quote:This. Honestly when you sit down and watch Upshaw play he is the closet thing I've seen to a college version of James Harrison but he doesn't put up insane stats due to the ridiculous amount of talent around him on that defense. Trevathan is forced to make plays, he is in a sense the defense for UK. Meanwhile Bama is like a ton of sharks smelling blood and fighting each other for the next big play.

Yeah it's easy to rack up tackles when you D is on the field more times than not. Hell Cam Lawrence could be 1st team by racking up 114 tackles and 6 tfl & 2 ints. State had 2 players have 92 tackles a piece, in Brandon Wilson & Charles Mitchell.

I think Rob Lohr and Casey Hayward from Vandy deserve some recognition.
Lohr has 4.5 sacks and 9 TFLs on the season, Hayward is tied for 2nd in the SEC for passes defended...

Agreed. Lohr had a hell of a year.

Great list. Can we update it with their schools too?
