FWIW I agree with everyone that has said Dre or Dyer.....I also reserve the right to place a handful of R-kansas receivers at the tip top after Friday.

Mathieu is over rated yet he has tied and or about to break school records only as a sophomore.

Actually, virtually every media outlet succeeded in putting him in the Heisman race.

Nice try though.

I'll do the major teams because they all have at least 1

UGA-Orson Charles he's talented but he disappears a lot and drops too many balls
Tenn-Tyler Bray. He's good but not elite like a lot of people say
UF-I'd say the whole defense outside of Elam,Bostic and Easley
USCe-Stephon Gilmore. Everybody knows it and most don't think he's as good as the announcers say he is every week
Aub-McCalebb. Big time speed and if he gets a crease he's gone but he can be shut down pretty easily if defenses have speed
Ark-Tyler Wilson. I actually like him but again he's not elite like the media has made him out to be this week. He throws some absolute terrible balls at times
Bama-Robert Lester another guy I like but he's not an All american or even close to what people were saying at the start of the year.
LSU-Russell Shepard. Pretty easy even though to it's credit most on this board have known this for a long time. Why the national media always says he is one of our biggest and most important playmakers is beyond me. He's an average wr that happens to have good speed(honestly this is overrated as well. His football speed is not as good as the times we are told around LSU circles).

TM7 is a little overrated as a cover corner but anyone that denies his ability to impact games is either biased against him or hasn't seen the games and are just following the crowd. His blitzes off the edge are when our defense is at it's best. Also his knack for causing turnovers can not be questioned. Go take a look at the WV int and tell me how many kids can make that play. Very few.

Who is the most overrated player in the sec?
I nominate Tyrann Mathieu.

I had to check the date on this thread. The hype with Mathieu has faded as his play reverted to above-average. However, at no time has he been overrated. When he was garnering all of the media attention, he was highly deserving of it.

As of today, I think the most overrated player in the SEC is Tyler Wilson or Aaron Murray. I think both are above-average players, but this league is so thin at QB, these two are put on a pedestal, and they are not quite deserving at the moment. Some of that can change on November 25th and December 2nd.

Actually that was Kirk herbstreit.

And saying Ron Brooks > Mathieu is just wrong.

Mathieu is really good. Just read Dana Holgerson's comments about LSU before and after our game with them. If you wanna say someone on LSU is overrated, say Russell Sheperd.

I can pick a handful of guys from Florida's team to answer the OPs question.

George(Jordan) Jefferson. He's movin on up.

I think Tyler Wilson is a close second and LSU will prove it on Friday.
