I think it looks pretty clear that the Bama receiver lost control of the ball just before he landed on his back. You can see it best in the last view on the video below. What's the opinion of the rant on this play?

People argue over it, but you can clearly see both battling for control on the ball while going to the ground. and Eric Reid won.

Interception..BUT:
If the refs call that a catch on the field, they wouldn't overturn it to an INT. That's how bang-bang that play was.

clearly that was the case and it was an unbelievable play considering he was guarding another man when the ball was thrown

not according to the officials. They confirmed the call.

I think as a fan base Bama should claim that as the call where the refs fricked us and cry about it for years.

Looked like Williams had it in his hands when he landed on his back to me. I thought that was down but guess not. Props to Reid for pulling it off.

It is a makeup call for being robbed for the PP INT.

There were threads last night about it.

Must have control of the ball through the contact with the ground. By the time that happened Reid had it. Plus, he was not fully in control. Reid won that battle. Correct call.

Disagree. Why was the call "confirmed"? It was clear Williams lost control of the ball before being "down", which means simultaneous possession couldn't apply. Eric Reid won the battle for the ball. It's as simple as that, and it should have been overturned if it would have been ruled a catch.

then you are seeing it through only crimson glasses...the ball was clearly not in his hands when he was on his back...you have to control a catch

Right call. This year you have to possess the ball pass contact with the ground. Wouldn't have been a catch for Alabama. Therefore, the call was Confirmed.

This is the way I looked at it. If Reid wasn't in the exact spot he was it probably would have been incomplete.

He NEVER had possession. Only one player showed complete possession, and that was Reid. Pretty obvious from the replay.

I guess we saw a different replay. I've watched it several times. Oh well, congrats to Reid for coming up with it.

Reid had one of the best defensive performances in one game that I've ever seen. Seems like he was in on every big play last night.
