heres my vote for an lsu bama rematch in nola for the national title! of all the teams in college football, these 2 are clearly the best and no matter what the outcome on nov 5th, no other team could matchup with either one of these teams! i hope stanford and boise dont ruin my hopes for this to happen.

It's the playoffs that everyone wanted. This is the quarterfinal round.

If Bama wins I would not want this to happen. If I was an LSU fan and LSU won, I wouldn't want it to happen.

Anyway, both teams will definitely be playing in NOLA. LSU first, and Bama a few days later.

What if Bama destroys LSU or vice versa?

could happen especially now that Wisconsin and Oklahoma lost. the best chance would be for Alabama to win on Nov. 5th because LSU has the higher BCS score and better ability to recover w/ a Top 10 Arkansas game. (Ark has to win out except LSU). Also, it has to be a close game on Nov. 5th so that the loser doesn't drop far in the polls. Oklahoma beats OSU. Stanford may need to lose, but I think LSU could jump Boise or even Clemson. (but Clemson won't go undefeated anyway)

how quick it is for people to forget 2006...bigger surprises have happened than if LSU/Bama lose to Stanford or Clemson in a national title game.

This is the biggest game in the HISTORY of the Southeastern Conference, why do you want to cheapen it and make it less meaningful?

No, this is IT, the BIG GAME. No second chances.

Florida had better talent than Ohio State, so it wasn't that big of a surprise. Actually, the game demonstrated the superiority of the SEC and how difficult it was to go undefeated in SEC play. Exposed the Big 10 and vindicated the undefeated 2004 Auburn team that got left out of the BCS.

it would be a dream for LSU or Bama to match up against Clemson. Clemson's offense started clicking against ACC defenses that can't play man-to-man. LSU and Alabama are redshirting players that could easily handle Clemson. Clemson's defense is average at best.

This may be the most untrue statement I've ever heard. Teams go undefeated in the SEC more often than in other leagues. Auburn 04, Bama 09, Auburn 10. 3 times in 7 years and probably 4 in 8? That argument is so tried and untrue

I don't know if Florida had more talent I won't get into that argument (OSU had at least 7 NFL players on both sides of the ball). Florida had a great gameplan and executed flawlessly.

Regardless, a repeat shouldn't happen; I wouldn't have wanted it in 06 if Michigan had won the first game and I don't want to see it now. Even if LSU/Bama are the 2 best teams, they get to play it out unlike teams who have been left out in the past

I'd prefer to not beat LSU twice in the same season.

i don't know why so many seem to be calling for a rematch of a game that hasn't even happened yet. there is virtually no chance for a rematch. if the game is exciting as hell and one team squeaks by on a questionable call or lucky play maybe the stage will be set. even then, it would probably take every undefeated team in the nation to lose. boise ain't losin'.

No rematch. I have always believed if you can't win your conference, you shouldn't be in NC game.

No they should not. Nov 5th is winner takes all. Not some sort of semi-meaningless game with a do-over in January..

my point was that SEC teams w/ 1 or 2 conference losses are still better than many undefeated teams.

Florida won 41-14. After OSU ran back the opening kickoff, they were never in the game. The game was over at halftime. OSU was a talented team, but they were not as complete or deep as Florida. The size and speed of Florida's defensive front was nothing like Troy Smith had ever witnessed in the Big 10. But other SEC teams played Florida much better. Auburn beat them. They needed a blocked extra point and field goal to beat SC by 1 point. Even Vandy score more points than OSU.

It was proven that OSU wasn't the best team in 06, so yes rematching OSU & Michigan would have been a travesty. However, the BCS algorithm got it right by putting Florida in the game. So if a 1 loss LSU or Alabama beats out an undefeated Clemson or Boise, its just the system computing that Clemson or Boise aren't one of the 2 best teams.

I think Clemson and Boise are the only 2 undefeated teams that can get shut out of the BCS Championship. Boise will be dinged for their SOS, as will Clemson compared to LSU or Alabama. Clemson doesn't get any help from the ACC Championship game because it is a rematch against VT, which isn't recalculated in their SOS. Clemson needs SC to beat Arkansas to help their SOS and hurt LSU or Alabama's. But Clemson won't go undefeated anyway.
