Did anyone think Nutt was a good hire at Ole Miss?

Besides Pete Boone.

At the time it seemed like a HUGE upgrade from Orgeron. After today and seeing how unprepared we were, I think it's time for his arse to go.

I don't even think Pat Boone thought he was.

Coming in strong on #1. DIAF.
I thought it was, but have strongly considered the situation given recent events.

Nick Saban probably did.

Nick Saban did
"Houston Nutt is the best coach in the SEC" Saban before upon accepting the Miami job.

The original hire was an upgrade for the mistake that was the ogre
Then he scared Boone into a raise and a ridiculous buyout
OM is as fricked as any program has ever been

dedfella, the Nutster has one talent, and that is looking out for number one.

I think he has lost all drive and is ready to retire.
He lost his 1st love when Arkie fired him, put together a couple good seasons to try & show them they screwed up, but now has no heart to put into it anymore.
He is not the same coach he used to be at Arkie. He is done emotionally.

This is not true based on watching the game today. Wasted timeouts. 3rd and 10 - screen or draw. Total lack of confidence in his body language. Same guy, different team.
And to answer the original question - yes.

Nutt is what he is....consistently inconsistent.
He'll win 7-9 games a couple of years, then he will go to pot for a couple of years. Then when his young recruits become juniors and seniors he will win 7-9 games again. When OM's last class when he oversigned get to be juniors and SRs he will look like a decent coach again.
He kind of reminds me of John Brady, except didn't accomplish as much as Brady. Final Four > Cotton Bowl
However, I do kind of agree with the poster above. He looks dejected on the sidelines, but I would have been too for that matter.

It could be worse, Ole Miss could be playing in the Big 12-2-1.

He's actually the exact same coach. I had flashbacks as I watched that game today

The Ole Miss fans that closed out the old Cotton Bowl and were the first SEC fans to take a pee as Cotton Bowl fans at Jerry World thought he was doing a great job.
