I took my wife this weekend to the Georgia Dome to watch her beloved Dogs. Here is my take on what I witnessed:
1. Kellen Moore (sp?) is a stud of a QB.
2. Boise would physically match up with any SEC team as long as they stay healty.
3. Boise TE is a man that hunts down DB's to inflick punishment
4. UGA should have never scheduled this game as a season opener.
5. Mark Richt better start calling plays if he has any desire to be UGA coach.
I am not sure if any SEC team could have beaten Boise saturday night unless they approached the game as a Big Game. Those guys can play football.

UGA stank the joint up, but this is pretty accurate. The only teams I've seen this season that would've hung with Boise are Alabama, LSU, and Oklahoma. Nary another.
Very physical DL (wonder if tylerdurden and the other UGA people on this board would like to call me a moron about that prediction now?) that's able to generate a lot of pressure using only the front 4, good solid OL, good RB, great QB, and excellent coaching. They strategized well for UGA, neutralized all the advantages Georgia had (high, hanging, directional kicks to the corners took away special teams advantage; short flat routes took away the rush - particularly after Ogletree sat as examples), and played a whale of a game. UGA's offense, particularly the lack of identity and commitment to the run, didn't help one bit, but Boise is a pretty good team.

I don't think it was a mistake because it would give our AD a chance to see where we are this year compared to last, and it doesn't appear that we've made much improvement. Also helped in recruiting for our freshmen class.

Bobo may be calling the plays but it's still Richt's dull, unimaginative offense.

You were probably glad to see Georgia lose just so you could be right

Bobo couldn't carry Richt's jock as an OC. Look, I'm pretty pissed at what Richt has become, but Richt at least had an understanding of what he was doing and a direction for the offense. Bobo has Richt's playbook and throws out random groups of playcalls in the name of trying to remain balanced.
He's making it way too complicated.
Go back and watch a game when Richt called the plays. Yes, it was dull and conservative. But it wasn't maddening. We ran to set up the PA pass, or dinked and dunked to open up the run.
The offense now has no rhyme or reason.

I don't think anybody thinks they can't play with the big boys for one game. They have proven that in their last few games. The difference is that they play one or two big games a year (most of them in the first game of the season) and play a schedule full of nobodies that pose absolutely no threat to them. We cannot reward a team like that the chance to play for the BCS championship. How can you compare a champion from the SEC, or even the Big 10, Big 12, or Pac 10 who has to play major opponents back to back? Could Boise play LSU this week, followed by MSU, Alabama, South Carolina, and Florida? I would wager they would not have the depth to handle that kind of a schedule, and until they choose to join a real conference and prove they have that kind of depth they deserve no shot at a national title of any kind.

Meh.
The gut gnawing anger dulls the pleasure FWIW.
I. Just. Do. Not. Understand. Mark. Richt's. Obvious. WGAS. Attitude. He is not this freaking dumb. It's like he's been asleep since the end of 2007, and we've been living his nightmare.

I agree just being neutral and not making any assumptions. I was one of those guys who always felt Boise was a joke, but watching their level of play and athletes they have I realize why the media likes them.

It's maddening. It can't be explained. Everytime I try to justify it only gets fricked up. This program is a mess.
You think he still is here after 6-6?

Put them in the SEC West this year and they finish 3rd or 4th.

I really do feel sorry for you guys. You're getting a taste of what we went through the last few years of the Fulmer era. It's difficult to watch a program you love go down the drain....

You know, I thought he'd keep his job barring an absolute meltdown of a season (less than 7 wins), but I just don't know. If Murray isn't hurt, the schedule sets up pretty nicely and this team is probably capable of limping home to an 8-4 or 9-3 type season. For all the hand wringing and oh Gods, Boise probably played the best individual game UGA will see all season.
I'd say we'll probably lose this weekend - though I think it'll be a lot closer than people are predicting simply because UGA matches up better with USC than Boise (that sounds so ridiculous I know). After that, the best two teams on the schedule are Florida and MSU, split those, maybe slip up again, win the bowl, and you're looking at a 9-4 season.
What to do then?
I was hoping Richt could turn it around, maybe hold on another couple of seasons, perhaps win another SECC, and retire, but his absolute shite-all stupid loyalty to a few people is/has cost him his program. First Martinez, now Bobo and JT II. Goddamn, if he'd just call his own plays again with the same mindnumbingly conservative approach he took early on it'd be a 100% improvement.
The thing that gets me is he isn't this fricking dumb, but I'm pretty much out of his camp as of this point.

Never thought I'd say this but that all makes a ton of sense. And I agree on the USC thought
But, if Murray is hurt USC may blast us to the stone age

i'm with you redbean.
despite our ineptitude it's obvious that Boise is for real. very impressive.
how would they fare week in and out in the sec? we'll never know. i think they could win the east this year but might struggle in the west.

We're all too butthurt for infighting - kind of like the old collge set vs. the students. When things are good, we'll talk about each other and generally cast a bitchy, wary eye. As for now, get your little asses in the car, the liquor's over there on the bar and the cigars are in the door pockets.
You boys got any headache powders?
This one's gonna hurt tomorrow morning.

Has Georgia been losing a lot of recruiting battles the last few years? I know they've had a lot of off-field issues resulting in dismissals, but as a marginally knowledgeable observer of UGA it seems like something is missing. There don't seem to be any Thomas Jones type players on the defense like UGA had throughout much of the 2000's. Has the resurgence of Alabama and Florida State to a lesser degree negatively impacted UGA recruiting? Are teams like South Carolina and Tennessee pushing harder for Georgia in state talent? For whatever reason it just seems like Richt has gotten stale while some of the other programs in conference have had much smoother transitions of coordinators and assistants.
