You're right, at this time we all need to gang together. It's about time we act like an sec fan base and get our coach fired irrationally

I'm firmly in the camp that Richt is good coach who needs a change of scenery.. Mind you he isn't a great coach and if I'm a Georgia fan, I'm pissed that he wasn't able to get it done this past decade..

Has Georgia been losing a lot of recruiting battles the last few years? I know they've had a lot of off-field issues resulting in dismissals, but as a marginally knowledgeable observer of UGA it seems like something is missing. There don't seem to be any Thomas Jones type players on the defense like UGA had throughout much of the 2000's. Has the resurgence of Alabama and Florida State to a lesser degree negatively impacted UGA recruiting? Are teams like South Carolina and Tennessee pushing harder for Georgia in state talent? For whatever reason it just seems like Richt has gotten stale while some of the other programs in conference have had much smoother transitions of coordinators and assistants.

It's not even that. Florida State, Tennessee, Auburn - they've always gotten guys out of Georgia and always will. For Tennessee and Auburn, it's a necessity. Alabama is going to get guys if they make the state a priority, but it isn't as important for them.

The problem is that UGA, though they've recruited well from a rankings standpoint, hasn't filled their needs well.

There are guys playing out of their natural position, and from a football IQ standpoint, it definitely shows.

From the call in show tonight...(paraphrased)

quote:

Samuel will not be moving back to LB...our new MLB is walk on J Suleck (Herrera & Gilliard will play) he did a great job Sat. nite....

FWIW...He weighs 199 pounds not 209....

IMO...Dude better get ready for a ride on the Lattimore Express... next stop the fricking endzone...

Put Jones at ILB, that's his more natural position, the position he practiced at all last year, and the guy who gives you the best chance for competent play.

Having Drew, Gilliard, and Herrera on the bench while a walk on plays is just more of the same at the fans, IMO.

At least it only took 1 game for the UGA Hype to end.

Just be Georgia...y'all have too much tradition and mystic. The SEC just needs you to be comfortable with yourself.

Boise State fans are praying that UGA rise up from the ashes and compete in the conference. The real truth is that this UGA team is the same as last year without it's star WR. Georgia will not win the East and will probably end up tied or behind Kentucky. Richt seems more lethargic on the sidelines than Urban Meyer did last year.

That game was won by one thing... Coaching. Boise does not have better athletes, just much better coaches that given time to prepare, ran circles around the dawgs. Peterson maybe the smartest coach in cfb right now. The guy knows how to not only game plan but how to coach up a team. Hat's off to them, thumbs down to Richt.

This season the same laughing stock will be made out of Ole Miss and Auburn this year. The league itself is not what it's been in recent memory.

I think it is just time to get some new blood in UGA. Richt needs to move on. He has gotten stale now and doesn't seem to have the same fire he used to have. It is almost like he is ok with being mediocre. How else do you explain him taking several years to fire the DC when it was obvious to everyone that he was garbage. His recruiting also seems to be off. They are still getting good players but UGA should be going toe to toe with Bama and Florida for kids and winning their fair share.

Richt has underachieved. Georgia is a hot bead of recruits with only one other d1 program in the state. He has no excuses. Im just happy it was LSU that ruined his best chances at a bcs title.

A lot of talented coaches would look at the talent on Georgia's team, and the current state of the East and instantly salivate, however, Richt takes the UGA fans for fools. He's rode on the coattail of the early '00s and a few homers in the media.

Richt has worn out his welcome. If they had the right coach, they could have been dominating the East for a couple of years now.

I think that's right for the most part but would also agree with the poster who pointed out Boise has a very very good front four on D

And yes, I think Richt is on his way out at UGA - in their great run in the SEC they were much more dominant out of conference than in conference (between 2002 and maybe 2007)... they won an unbelievable percentage of their out of conference games (against BCS opponents)

UGA against OOC BCS opponents 2002-2007:
LINK

vs ACC: 10-0
vs Big 10: 2-0
vs Big 12: 2-0
vs Big East 0-1 (west va in Sugar Bowl)
vs hawaii (sugar bowl) and boise: 2-0

In the last 12 months they have lost to Colorado, Central Florida (it was UCF in the bowl game right?), and now Boise. There is no shame in losing to Boise when they are pretty good this year - but there are just no good excuses for losing to UCF and Colorado
