Songs that mention your team
Deacon Blues:
The song, while contrasting winning and losing in life, does so by taking as an image the contrast between the perennial powerhouse, Crimson Tide football team, and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. In the five years before the song was written, the Crimson Tide had lost only 8 games total, while Wake Forest had a losing record every season. Group member Donald Fagen said, "Walter and I had been working on that song at a house in Malibu. I played him that line, and he said, 'You mean it's like, they call these cracker a-holes this grandiose name like the Crimson Tide, and I'm this loser, so they call me this other grandiose name, Deacon Blues?' And I said, 'Yeah!' He said, 'Cool! Let's finish it!'
Dat is some funny shite.
Wow, never heard that story. Sounds like that guys a prick and that you're a little butt hurt there are no songs that mention auburn

There's some terrible rap song that is played along with some 'Bama highlight videos that mentions Alabama.
Does a lack of education or ability to rise above the state of nature convey excitement or something. I have to turn down the lyrics to all of the videos because they are so lame.

Yep, whether they liked Alabama or not, they knew Alabama was a winner.

Everytime someone mentions Deacon Blues, an Auburn fan jumps in and tells that story.
Check out any thread, or article and you will find an Auburn fan explaining the Steely Dan song.
But back in those days there was a bias against the South, any school in the South. It just so happens that Alabama was winning it all and it pissed off the west coast hippies.
Whatever anyone says, whether they hated Alabama or not, Fagen knew who the winner was.
