I don't see the LSU hype either. I think they are a nine win team. They have a lot of solid athletes in the secondary, and I expect them to have one of the best O-lines in the SEC, but every other unit seems average to below average to me.
I just don't see a top 5 team that every one is projecting them to be. 8-4 regular season and 9 wins after the bowl game.

We're top 5 because we return a lot of player from an 11-2 team. Our secondary is as experienced as it's ever been and our d-line is as deep as ever. Our offense is a question mark but we're one of only a few teams returning 2 senior QBs and a veteran o-line.
eta: I don't think we'll win it all this year based on the ridiculous schedule but next year we're going to be scary.

Josh missed too many actual kicks last year for the Groza. He had the best fg% in the SEC (about 84%), but I'm pretty sure he missed 4 or 5 kicks, some of which were pretty important.
Just to illustrate an example, take the Tennessee game. Josh Jasper missed a FG early in the game that would have given us a 10-0 lead.
Assuming he made that kick, and assuming the rest of the game plays out exactly the same up to the final drive, then Tennessee would have been up 14-13, with LSU in possession of the ball with a chance to win.
If that had been the case (instead of 14-10), then LSU comfortably kicks a chip shot FG as time expires to win the game.
Miles comes off looking like a time management genius, and nobody ever talks about that game again.

7-5 is a bit of a stretch. LSU isn't going to lose to EVERY legit opponent. I think we are a little overrated and i'd guess we probably go 9-3 or 10-2, but the question comes down to: who else do you put on top? Every major program besides Oklahoma has as big of or bigger question marks than LSU. So it's a crap-shoot at this point.

10-2 is the best guess.
9-3 if we're unlucky and 11-1 if we catch a few breaks.

I do think LSU will be one of the teams to beat in 2012 along with Tenner from the East. I just see too many possible losses on that schedule. There are easily 6 or 7 game that could be lost on that schedule by LSU. Just because they play to their competition for the most part.

I called 10-2 last year, as a midpoint of a range of possibilities.
This year I'm calling 11-1, reg. season. Possibilities range from 12-0 to 8-4.
Arkansas, Alabama, and Oregon will be dog fights. Worst case provides for losing those three and one we shouldn't.
Best case is we beat them all. Realistically, I think we drop one of the three (but the first is the least likely).
