North Carolina has triple the population of South Carolina, but we have more NFL picks. Found that to be pretty interesting.

And the fact that several of the ACC schools emphasize basketball over football. Not the case in the SEC, except for one school.

How do you explain the recent recruiting success of Florida State and Clemson?

Can't explain Clemson.
Florida State got help because UF had a horrible season and Meyer quit for a second time in 12 months........and Miami is still Miami.

I don't buy it as a holistic explanation. It certainly fits for last year's stellar class.
But Florida State has had 4 straight top 10 classes on rivals, dating back to 2008.
So that means that Florida State's recruiting did well despite Tebow's Heisman, despite Florida's championship in 2008, and despite getting close to another in 2009.
Clemson is a mystery. I guess this Dabo guy is just a charmer or something.

UF and FSU, the past few years, have been going back and forth with the higher recruiting class. However, it took UF's drastic decline of this past season to see the improvements FSU has been making. They have been getting great classes, so has UF. Last year, for lack of a better term, we sucked. They pulled a MUCH better class than we did. It's the ebb and flow of a sibling rivalry.

Which came the year after Bama played them in 2007. Bama brought them exposure and thus all ensuing success.

This is only partially true. UFs lackluster season and coaching change certainly helped but...
FSU has always attracted top-level recruits and had top-level recruiting classes. The problem for last decade was that Bowden and his staff either failed to develop the talent or recruited some bad apples. They also had a tendency to recruit based on stars rather than need. The relentless and methodical approach to recruiting by CJF and his staff is night and day compared to Bowden.
Although they have dropped off lately, Miami will always get top-level talent because of their location.
As for Clemson? I have no idea - maybe they have their own Tigerettes?

Have any of you ever stopped to think that half of these purebreds that go to these SEC schools wouldn't have a snow ball's chance in hell of being academically eligible to play in the ACC?

Not hard for athletes to get into Clemson, Va Tech, NC State, FSU and Miami and probably Maryland.
