the real test will be OM & MSU back to back.

Ole Miss is one of the worst teams on our schedule. We're better than MSU too and it's in Athens. We'll go 2-0 in those games.

SC, UT, and UF are the biggies that will define our season, IMO.

i agree. the Dawgs should win. My point is that if they were to lose, it would telling that things aren't on track. more so than Boise & SC.

Probably no one, but we were bad last year. I'm not trying to trumpet our accomplishments of last year like state fans do. And with as bad as we were we still took you last into the 4th before the game was decided.

-Murray was in his 4th game ever. I don't see any reason why he won't improve if even slightly.
-Our defense was in it's 4th game in a new system. Do you realize how hard it is to transition to a 3-4 in year 1? With a whole season and 2 offseasons under it now our defense should be much better.
-We didn't even have a NG last year to play in the 3-4. This year we got one of the best JUCOs in the country at the position.
-Diaz was a great DC for you. I don't care who you brought in or who schooled him, it's still going to be a learning adjustment for a new DC, especially going to Athens early on in the season.

You return a bunch of starters from an average team, great. Just color me unimpressed in general though with state. I'm not saying they're bad, because they're not. But I don't think they'll beat Georgia.

Richt has to be careful I think. If UGA comes out 0-2, he might not be able to save his job.

I think in order to save himself and UGA, they need to come out NO WORSE than 6-1.

UGA could very well start 0-2 and finish the season 10-2 and possibly winning the SECE. Preseason, Boise and SC are the toughest games on UGA's schedule.

CMR is well respected by our administration and the vast majority of our fans. His current contract expires in 2013. IMHO if Richt contends for the East including a win over Florida then he will likely get his contract renewal. If he goes say 7-5 and loses to Florida again (2-8 vs the Gators) then I don't see how McGarity can justify a contract extension. If that happens, then the way I see it Mark would have one more year to prove himself at which point he might start looking for greener pastures.

Having said this, UGA has one the easiest SEC schedules possible. The first 2 games vs Boise and SC should be the toughest games. Even if we lose both of those games, I could easily see us winning out and contending for the East.

This is a very difficult question to answer honestly. I think with the current situation that if the big wigs see the program is trending up then he's back. No win benchmark really, more about who he beats. I think the big wigs are rooting hard for richt and will look for anything to retain him. I think 8 wins will be dangerous territory for richt but if one of those wins is UF and we are still in it for the east I think he stays. I don't like that but I think that's the case. When you get to the 7-6 wins then I think that as hard as the university tries the media and fan fury will be insurmountable.

Richt must show improved discipline, the team must be trending up, we need to beat UF and GT, and we need to win the East or get real damn close. He does most of that and he'll be back. Pathetic but they adore richt. IMHO he better win 10 and the East or GTFO

so we don't have to add them to the list of teams to worry about.

Richt is 3-1 against bama chief...

I think his inference was that UGA'd leave our assistants alone from a HCing offer.

does Georgia have to come out early and 'swinging' colloquially, by beating Boise State?

yes his hot seat will be red hot if they lose.

what is Marks status right now?

any more than 3 losses and he is gone. Any worse than a 2nd place finish in the sec east and he is gone.

Richt has a chance to win the east and win 10-11 maybe 12 games. The schedule is perfect, his talent is maturing, and he signed a hell of a class. But - he's been running his mouth whining about oversigning and a bunch of silly stuff that emphasizes how undisciplined he and his teams have been historically. If he doesn't win 9-10 games games this year he's gone and deserves to be fired. This is it for Richt.

If Richt goes 6-6 with a win against Florida, McGarity will keep. I know it's not what Georgia fans want to hear, but it's the truth. I would say 10-2 with wins over UF and UT or else he and his staff are out on their asses, but I'm not the AD.

But beating Boise Stae would be so cool

It would be tremendous, it would also kind of signal that we're heading in the right direction. But then what happens if we lose to SC the next week? Now we've dropped in the polls again,

But again, it gives even more strength to the SEC, beating another high ranked out of conferene opponent. While not good for SEC standings in the East, losing to SC, but shows again that the SEC is conference to beat...

I don't think it's a matter of needing to sell himself. The powers that be in Athens appear to be ok with losing right now. As long as that's the case, he's good; when it changes, he's gone.

I haven't posted in months...but this is fuggin ignorant. We'll be back on our AU curb stomping streak....note it, please do.

You don't hear much sass on these boards from UGA fans....we've had no grounds over the past 2 years.

We WON'T lose to MSU, you'll be back in your place after you leave Athens....I'm very glad it'll be us to deflate these huge heads you gents have in the offseason. Revenge over last year will taste so, so sweet. After you get mauled by LSU and AU. Like the Shane Co. I guarantee it!

UM? .............So very doubtful, but I'm more worried about losing this game than MSU...alot more worried. You State fans need to shoo with your barely fingertipping the cusp of average. Wake up...smell it...you'll be the second best team in Miss after this year. Hate on me...I won't and will not have to respond.

UF, USC and UT are the games.

You boys in MSU need to simmer down. Come Oct. 1st...you'll be 2-2 and absolutely pissed...after Oct. 1st...you'll take your regular goddamned seat in the back of the fricking bus and deal with 2-3.

UGA has shite better seasons than the ones MSU drools over.

frick you.
