Should Legion Field be torn down?

Historic stadium where a lot of great games have been played, but is it time to tear the Old Gray Lady down? Bama doesn't play there anymore, the upper decks were condemned and are now gone, and UAB fans are so afraid for their lives when they go there for home games that they're planning on building an on campus stadium. Even with all that just a few months ago Bham Mayor William Bell talked about updating the facility
With the SEC Compass Bowl tie-in it seems like we could do better than Legion Field. Maybe Larry "Beluga Whales" Langford can reach out from prison and finally get the Dome built?
Edit: I59 informed me that the upper decks have been demolished.

THE upper deck WAS taken down.
Whether it should or shouldn't, it won't be anytime soon. The Birmingham / Compass Bowl will be around for awhile and the city has a contract with Alabama State and Alabama A&M in the "Magic City Classic" for years to come which will get 55,000 for the game and another 15,000 who tailgate outside.

Ah didn't know that. Haven't gone out to the Arkadelphia/BSC area in a while. And you're right about the Magic City Classic.
Side note, haven't they moved the high school playoffs to an alternating rotation between AU and Bama? Know that Legion field used to the venue for the final games, but not sure if it still is.

The upper deck was taken out in 2005. You haven't been out there in a long time

Also, the The Steel City Classic is played there still (Miles vs. Stillman).

Legion Field isn't the problem just like Rickwood Field isn't. The areas surrounding the two venues are the problem. Birmingham has been slowly turning into Detroit South for some time now......

While you're at it, tear the city down.

Wow I had no idea they were torn down that long ago. Use to visit some friends at BSC back in the late 90s/early 00s and they told me never to drive past the gates and if I did just turn around as quickly as possible

I was pretty scared when we went there for the Pizza Bowl two years ago.

Last game I watched at LF was Bama & La Tech. I'm still pissed about that game.
