what's he making per year? $4MM+? what's his buyout? hearing (((rumors))) that he may take the state job.

State job? You mean Florida State?
Posted on 3/28/11 at 9:19 am to Quidam65
probably means NC State
i don't get why donovan would leave for that job, though.

Donavan's got more money than he could ever spend and after his Magic flirtation, he's not going anywhere.

Right now Billy the Kid has the run of whatever top-level talent Florida (and probably a few surrounding states) produces, with top-notch facilities, in the best athletic conference in this or any other universe.
Why leave that for a job where you can do no better than third-best in your own state, always having to compete (and most often failing) with two national powerhouses in Duke and UNC?

He likes a challenge?

I agree with the fact that he has tons of cash, and that he isn't going anywhere (why would he?), but I'd have to say he did more than have a "flirtation" with the Magic.

This being said, NC State has relevance. Just because it has been 28 years since there last banner was hung? They only have 2 less National titles then Duke, a rabid fan base for basketball, and rediculous basketball facilities. They will be significant again with whoever they hire this time around.

Donovan is not going anywhere, he's dealt with this demon and is staying at Florida.

I'm going to need Kige to verify this

Apparently the budget is 4 million if the coach is Donovan. I laughed off these rumors when I heard them before the tournament, but a lot of smoke coming out of the triangle the past few days. They're going to offer Donovan a ridiculous contract and if he turns them down, they're going to throw 2 mil/year at Smart.

If Donovan goes, so be it. He did a lot for our basketball program, and once again I feel that Foley would make a solid hire.

Donovan leaving? What, is there something in the water there in Gainsville, e.g. Spurrier, Meyer? I mean these people leave all the sudden, out of nowhere. It could happen. Not saying it will, but could.
