Not close enough

It would be like somebody from Mississippi saying ROAR Eagle.

"The Bulldogs are wearing white trousers with maroon piping, maroon jerseys with white numerals and maroon headgear."

Trousers,piping and headgear. Awesome.

I always loved driving down on Saturday for an LSU night game when State was playing a day game so I could hear his broadcasts.

Cornerbacks = side backs

Anytime there was a kick in basketball, "He kicks it soccer style"

Phrases such as "Doesn't stand a Chinaman's chance"

I'm going to miss Jack. Hopefully Matt Wyatt and Shane Power step in to color roles and Jim Ellis moves over to full-time play-by-play man.

Jack also uses some good basketball phrases that are classics.

"he was blocked out" over the back foul

"absoultely MUGGED" hard foul by the opposing team

I also loved how Jack would get on the refs in basketball broadcasts.

Al, or other Maroon Bulldogs, does Miss State sell any of Cristol's cassettes,or CD's DVD's ? I've heard some of Larry Munson's Georgia calls, John Ward's Tennessee calls, and Cawood Ledford's UK basketball calls. I'd love to get my hands on some of Cristol's calls.

I think that most Mississippi State fans can agree with me on this.

Jack is proabaly the biggest Mississippi State icon in the entire State of Mississippi, more than any player or coach who ever was at State.

Im glad to know he is getting a banner at both the HUMP and at Davis Wade Stadium.

I hope the SEC honors him before tipoff of the SEC tournament title game in Atlanta next month.

Oh, that's some great stuff. I've heard y'all talk about his 'Sonic Drive' of the game where he mentions his drive back to Tupelo. First time I've ever heard it.

I wouldn't mind watching an ESPN Outside the Lines or 30 for 30 on him some day.

Honestly the calls he made when we were losing are better than the ones he made when we were winning.

He lives in my mom's neighborhood. I've met him quite a few times. Great guy.

Wonder if he'd like to meet at a Sonic in Tupelo with an LSU fan from Birmingham sometime and tell some war stories ?

ESPN needs to do a story on him before it's too late.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that one, sadly. An elderly white man from Mississippi ? No,they'd rather do a "thoughtful, provactive" piece on a "minority" who was 'unfairly held down or back'.

It just feels like everything is changing in the SEC. No more Cristil and Munson on the radio, no more triple headed monster that was the 3 Daves for the early game, and now the chance of no rolling at Toomers.

If something happens to the marina in which the Vol Navy docks...I may just pull a Brooks from the Shawshank Redemption and say goodbye to this cruel world.

I'm sure, if nothing else, they'll do one at halftime of a game next season. Probably thursday night against LSU.
