Cyrus' choice may be down to "family vote".

Can I be adopted quickly to the Kouandjio family as the long lost cousin from Cameroon?

He's not going to go somewhere he doesnt want to just because more people in his family voted for him too. Whether he ends up at Alabama or Auburn or even New Mexico it'll be because that is where he wants to be

"… The only thing I can do with regard to his decision is to give him all the tools," Jean Claude Kouandjio said. "That way, he can analyze all the aspects of the problem. I can't decide for him because in the long run, two or three years from now, I don't want him to come back and say, ‘I went there because of you.' I want him to show courage, with the burden of any aspect of his decision. I don't want to be the person to decide. I raised him and (have) given him the responsibility. He's a little boy but he's grown enough to make a decision. That's all I can say."
That doesn't sound like a family vote.

To be honest, as much as I'd love to have CK because he's a hell of a player and the fact that it would piss off the gumps, I've about had my fill of overbearing dads who get in the way of their kids. Jmo.

It's funny that the only thing the article from the TUSCALOOSA NEWS doesn't quote is the part about a family vote that directly contradicts the last part of the article.

I gathered two things from that article.
1. Auburn does not involve the parents in the recruiting process if they know the parents do not want their kid at Auburn. Calloway's parents were completely shocked when he flipped, and Cyrus' dad apparently has only met an Auburn coach one time ever.
2. There will be no "vote" and whatever Cyrus decides will be supported by his family.

The Cyrus Kouandjio saga took another turn this evening when the highly-recruited offensive lineman's father told The Tuscaloosa News that the family will vote some time tonight on the player's college destination.
Jean Claude Kouandjio said his son struggled with a decision of whether to play at Alabama or Auburn late in the recruiting process, and had not slept for three days. The father advised his son to turn off his phone after he received between 900 and 1,000 text messages in the days leading up to his announcement on ESPNU.
