"The Capstone" The University of Alabama is often referred to as "The Capstone" by alumni and friends of the university. "The Capstone" is a nickname for The University of Alabama coined by former UA President G. H. Denny when he referred to the University as the “capstone of the public school system of the state” in 1913. Capstone means 'the top stone or high point.'

quote:

The University of Alabama was founded in 1831 at Tuscaloosa and is the system's flagship campus. An extension center created in Birmingham in 1936 along with the University of Alabama School of Medicine eventually grew into UAB, while UAH began as an extension center established in Huntsville in 1950. The Birmingham and Huntsville campuses became autonomous institutions with the creation of the UA System in 1969.

Founded in 1831 and located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, The University of Alabama (also known as Alabama, UA, or colloquially as 'Bama) is the flagship school of the University of Alabama System. Within Alabama, it is often called the Capstone. UA is the senior and the largest in terms of enrollment of the state's major research universities. Outside the state, it is well-known for the fact that its athletic teams are nicknamed the "Crimson Tide" (crimson being one of the school colors). UA offers programs of study in 12 academic divisions leading to bachelor's, master's, Education Specialist, and doctoral degrees.

The only publicly-supported law school in Alabama is at UA. Other academic programs unavailable elsewhere in Alabama include doctoral programs in anthropology, library and information studies, metallurgical and material engineering, Romance languages, and social work.

I was thinking he was probably joking but wasn't sure, if he was he should have made it more obvious

Nice run-on sentence, dubmass.

/I realize this is a sentence fragment.
//I also realize I spelled "dumbass" wrong.
///You are still a dubmass who brings shame to his University with your grammatical shortcomings.

Third grade is harder to get into than Bama? That would be amusing coming from an LSU fan if Bama wasn't ranked about 45 spots higher on USNWR's rankings in overall universities this year (not to mention Alabama is considerably harder to get into than LSU). But don't let the facts get in the way of your opinion.

because us mississippians who chose to attend Ole Miss wanted to get outside our bumville circle of friends and grew tired of a nightlife that consists of seeing what is going on at the jitney jungle parking lot.

Also most male mississippians are intimidated by a sea of hot chicks who aren't impressed with how loud your muffler is or how good you are at getting your boys truck out of a mud hole.
