It was a dumb joke. I figured you would just ignore it and keep on rolling.

Two or three pro head coaches have already been fired this season. It is pro football....a business. Petrino found another job. Nothing wrong with that.

I'm a huge Petrino fan, and it's pretty obvious that his job-hopping rep is not deserved, especially with what has transpired as of late.
As for the Falcons situation, I think that it was just a bad situation that was just made worse by all sides.
Petrino's players obviously quit on him during that season. It was quite obvious from watching them play. Perhaps it was due to Petrino's style not matching the NFL game, or perhaps he was pissed about not being able to coach Vick into the QB he could be. Nevertheless, it's on both sides that the players were acting so unacceptably.
As for Petrino, yeah it sucked that he couldn't have quit the job at the end of the season, but the timing of the Arkansas search kind of made it necessary to try and save the recruiting class prior to signing day, since Nutt had gutted the program. Also, it would have been nice if he had gotten to meet with the players, even though I have also heard that he was not allowed to. Obviously it wasn't handled well.
Arthur Blank handled it the worst of all IMO. He had threatened to fire Petrino earlier in the season and had given Petrino the blessing to look for other jobs, since he believed that Petrino would not last long in the NFL. Then for him to come out and play the victim was just idiotic. This is the same guy that fired Dan Reeves in the middle of the season, who was the only coach ever to take the shitty franchise to the Super Bowl. So owners and teams can quit on coaches, yet it's somehow unacceptable for coaches to quit on teams?
Personally, I think it's unacceptable for anyone to quit in the middle of the season. That's why while I don't condone everything about the way Bobby handled it, it's also why I cut him some slack

I think the way Petrino left the Falcons was weak. Obviously there is a lot more to the story than anyone has heard, and obviously none of that matters to anyone but Arkansas fans. If I was a player I would be pissed at the way Petrino left. I'd also be super pissed that I ended up on the Falcons but that is another story.
End of the day though, Petrino got us to our first BCS bowl in year 3. He just signed a 7 year deal with an 18 mil buyout and a non compete with the entire SEC. I don't care about Atlanta unless its the SECCG.
All the talk about "Petrino is evil" is the same as "Saban is Satan", it reeks of U MAD.

i don't disagree with this. but to defend the guy through the nose and to put the blame on the ATL players is bullshite. Petrino handled that situation with no class. he wrote a note, left it for his players and disappeared.. 3/4 way through the season. never spoke to any of them again. that's very cowardly, imho.
i think Mike Zimmer said it best about Bobby:
“He’s a gutless bastard. Quote that. I don’t give a shite.” When a reporter informed him that folks in the mainstream media may not be able to use that, Zimmer responded; “How about this, gutless mother fricker. You can use that.”

I'm not defending him through the nose. He dumped the Falcons in a dick manner. The fact is though had he not contacted Arkansas and quit the falcons job right away, we would have ended up with someone like Jim Grobe or a career assistant. The only way he could get an SEC head coaching job was to quit right then, so he rolled the dice and took the 2+ million a year paycut.
So I'm saying: I know what happened and I'm glad it did. I know a lot of SEC fans would feel the same if it were their coach

Sweet baby Jesus...How did I know DS would be all up on this topic...
I bet half the frickers on this boards toughest decision was whether to spit or swallow...
I don't give a shite what he did or how it played out to the general public. His 3 year tenure does not mesh with the Zimmer BS or what the Falcons/Blank/D.Hall spewed all over the place...
Its basically means:
Grow the frick up bitches

Bottom line my fellow Hog fans, is the simply this - if you haven't figured it out yet, most of the SEC, and, for that matter, most of the country has a very, very low opinion of our state, its flagship university and thus our football program. Obviously, we've got a good thing going and its chaps people's arse for a state/school that they dont think too much of have a little swagger and confidence. It's pretty much like the quiet country kid at your high school that you thought was a tool all of a sudden starts dating the homecoming queen and starts showing up at some of the cool-kid parties. It's simple jealously and insecurity on anyone's part who doesnt think that an improving Arkansas program is anything but good for the SEC. They're worried, and they should be. We're going to be a greater factor than ever before for several years to come - not that we were a complete non-factor to begin with....
Good luck and keep hating. And fuhq OSU. Go get another gold necklace, a tattoo or 2, and run along you're late for your tanning bed appt.
