Both are scary hires. Stoops will be able to do great things with Florida's talent, and Peterson could possibly be even better.

What about Chris Peterson?

The first name that i pictured on the gator sidelines was another guy wearing a visor. Stoops. Then i thought of Mullen. Been there and did well. The third guy i thought of was the Boise coach, but his name has not surfaced. It would be hard to imagine Petrino would take the job. I mean he just getting over getting his arse kicked in the press for being such a pussy and leaving the falcons mid season. I would imagine if Saban would not have 2 of the bad times his pussy arse would take the job. But both stay and i think your coach will be Mullen.

Not to nitpick about Stoops, but he's always been able to get solid talent at OU. Granted stealing kids from Texas probably isn't as easy as sitting in your backyard and getting talent, but it's not like he doesn't have the ability to get talent there. I don't see him leaving either. I'm sure he wants to try and pass Wilkinson and Switzer for the all-time wins record.

I could honestly see Petersen turn them down. We saw what happened to the last two coaches out of Boise State. Koetter failed at ASU, and Hawkins is out at CU. I think Petersen is better, but the track record doesn't look good.

I also think nationally, Petrino is still kind of a "too hot to touch" commodity with his reputation. I'm not sure if UF would be willing to go for it. Also, I think Petrino might bring too much baggage.

I would put my money on Randy Edsall or Kevin Sumlin, and that is my completely uneducated guess.

Just read that Stoops has first right of refusal then on to Petrino. It went further to say that Petrino wanted/wants to be at UF.

Just reporting some basic stuff. Can't link.

Believe it or not.

I have no idea as I have never spoken to Petrino about it. Has anyone here ever done that?

First of all... Stoops would be making a lateral move. No offense to UF, but OU is on the same tier. Maybe MAYBE you get paid more, but OU is in a great market, just like LSU - you have your state to dominate, and it's a good football state, and you have a lot of ability to reach into good nearby football states (TX and CA for OU) for recruits. Florida has competition not only every year from two other premier programs, but the entire country. On Florida's side, why do you want Stoops? Sure, he's a good coach, but he's been completely outdone for five BCS games. He's just not on the level of some of these other guys. Hell, Peterson beat him with a group of players none of which would start EVER for OU. I just don't get it.

Petrino is a little better... but UF has always seemed to like integrity guys, which Petrino isn't. Plus he's a pro-style coach, complete departure from current scheme... although I suppose with Brantley you already have your QB and you just need a season to drill it in. Eh. He'd be pretty good.

Still think Peterson is the best hire. Happy that it looks like we won't see that anytime soon.

Gary Patterson wears a visor...TCU gets into Big East and finally gets the automatic bcs bid potential, Patterson then leaves for UF= if cowherd has a clue of what he's talking about with his "STAB" comment, this is an effective "stab" to TCU since their coach would be ditching them. He'd do very good there(as previously metioned)
