... at the bottom of a "slippery slope."

This is only going to get uglier and ultimately will badly tarnish the once renowned SEC.

The bottom line here is that the SEC has left itself wide open for future revelations about this entire tawdry matter.

And, any and all of such revelations, which will inevitably come to light, will only serve to reflect horribly on the SEC. Pretending that a $200,000 payoff is irrelevant is inherently disreputable.

It also pains and sickens me that LSU will suffer for the SEC's avarice.

Interesting. I always thought it was to find the truth and apply applicable rules.

It's not just Camgate, it's Slivegate (or Slimegate if you prefer). Slive can't hope for anything but for Cam to be cleared. Slive is part and parcel of the cover-up. In this way, the SEC lacks institutional control. Slive has got to go and the SEC offices need to be moved out of Birmingham.

The thing about it is if he's so sure this needs to be addressed then why didn't he use the latitude given by the SEC bylaws to to enforce the spirit of the rules?

Because Slive is a piece of shite waiting on a payday.

He's a typical lawyer who thinks the problem he created needs to be fixed with another rule.

That's exactly why Washington DC is so f'd up.

Slightly slouching, Slive slickly slams slights slung slowly...

But, it won't matter in the long run. This is only going to hurt the SEC very badly. In fact, it already has.

Slive's a dirt bag. We've known that for a while now, he just keeps proving it over and over again.

Is Slime on a yearly contract? Can he be voted out by all the other SEC members? Am living in Dallas area and hearing the SEC ripped daily on local media. This is a terrible black mark on the SEC and everyone in the SEC just talks shite and does nothing about it.

congress needs to step in and break up the bcs and force a playoff. The SEC is one of if not the biggest benefactors of the bcs.

While we are at it, lets get rid of conference officiating and use NCAA officials instead.

The corruption in the sec and college football is disgusting.

quote:

"The facts in this case, as we understand them, are that the student-athlete's father, without knowledge of the student-athlete, solicited improper payments [which were rejected] from an institution the young man did not attend, and that the institution where the young man is enrolled was not involved," Bloom told the AP in an e-mail.

Oh, and what ever happened to "the money was to much, so i am going to auburn"? That is the one piece that has been sweped under a very big rug.

College football is a farce and only clowns think there was any integrity to be lost. Student athletes.

What part of this language in the SEC's bylaws is possibly unclear?

“If at any time before or after matriculation in a member institution a student-athlete or any member of his/her family receives or agrees to receive, directly or indirectly, any aid or assistance beyond or in addition to that permitted by the Bylaws of this Conference (except such aid or assistance as such student-athlete may receive from those persons on whom the student is naturally or legally dependent for support), such student-athlete shall be ineligible for competition in any intercollegiate sport within the Conference for the remainder of his/her college career.”

if you look hard at the ncaa and the usc/bush crap, the sec is just taking advantage of the norm.
the ncaa dragged usc along for 5 years, hopeing it would disappear.
the ncaa/sec is going to hope the camgate disappears also.
