Why Doesn't Holtz Love Arky as much as Notre Dame and USCe?

He always picks those two teams but I think he picks for/against the Hogs more rationally
Any reason?

He can't remember coaching at Arkansas.

Well if Arky fans are in IRL anything like they are on TD.com, then I can understand why he'd have no love for the program.

Holtz is Catholic and ND was his dream job. He was fired at Arkansas.

Him and Broyles hate each other.

Forget the fact that Holtz was the most successful coach the Hogs ever had.

Notre Dame and USCe have been more relevant (media wise for Notre Dame) in the past few years than Arkansas, and Arkansas didn't get any attention until after the USCe game.
If Arkansas continues to be relevant next year, then we'll see if Holtz jumps on that train.

Wikipedia on Holtz's departure from Arky:

reports suggested it may have been due to controversy over his having taped two television advertisements from his coach's office endorsing the re-election of Jesse Helms as Senator from North Carolina.

there are lots of stories, but it boils down to broyles getting tired of him and finding reasons to run him off. same story as sutton/hatfield/nolan.

Unfortunately, Holtz needed to be fired at that point. He spent a lot more time being a celebrity than recruiting for about his last three seasons, and our talent level went down the crapper as a result. Hatfield was thus the perfect hire at that time -- a coach who was used to winning with inferior talent at Air Force.

That's quite possibly the dumbest statement I have read in a long time. You either just have a blind dislike for Arkansas or don't know much about college football if you really believe what you said here.

Hatfield was a pretty darn good coach. Won 10 games at Air Force. Won 10 games at Arky three times in six years. Won 10 games at Clemson. Had a winning record three times at Rice, which is no small accomplishment.

And yet not Nutt who was not even half the coach that any of the four them were.

Hatfield was picked over Jimmy Johnson who went on to unprecedented success at the U.
