Per the D being soft: It's worth noting that the D didn't blitz. This allowed the Offense to just go out and execute the called plays.

Petrino mentioned in the post-game interview that they didn't blitz because he didn't want the QB's audibles on TV.

Just as much as some of us Hog fans seem narcissistic, some fans from opposing teams sure seem obsessed with our fan base.

No question about it. I won't feel "comfortable" that he's not interested in the job until somebody else is announced as Florida's new coach.

But that's not exclusive to Petrino. I'd feel that way regardless of who our coach was (with a few exceptions). As you said, some of that comes with the business.

SSSHHHHH. Dont say that out loud. Saints fans will say were not even a top 5 team.

Oh, right. Yeah, the Saints are the prime team in the NFC.

If the definition of respect is "Have a coach most of the team hated personally come in and say what he wrote in the note in the most monotone voice ever," then no, I don't necessarily think they deserved that.

The fact was, that Petrino in Atlanta was a bad fit. The players didn't like him. He didn't like the situation (especially after Vick went to the pen).

Any way he went about leaving that team to take the Arkansas job before the season ended was going to be ridiculed.

Is it the way I would've handled it? No. But I don't think it makes him the shittiest person on the planet, either.

This could be the year, man. The NFC is down and Atlanta's playing as well as anyone.

Unless he happens to do the same thing to Arkansas. Don't think it would happen, but you never know.

Well, I would split hairs here because these are college athletes. If he left notes in the lockers of kids whose moms and dads he spoke with about coming to play at Arkansas, I'd have a problem with that.

If he leaves, though, I absolutely can't blame him. Hell, I wouldn't really blame him if he had to pull a Brian Kelly and leave before the Sugar Bowl. It'd suck for the team, but recruiting is important, and now would be the time to do damage control after Meyer's bad timing (he should've waiting until after the bowl, IMO).

You do realise how Petrio left the Atlanta Falcons, right? Notes in lockers....didn't even address the team or phone the players.

Yeah, of course I do. I don't really care, though.

Not to beat an old, dead, and buried horse, but my take on that was: They're grown arse men and professional athletes (making at least hundreds of thousands and mostly millions)...I think they can deal.

The weird position for me, is that I'm also a Falcons fan, and honestly, it couldn't have worked out better as far as I'm concerned. Mike Smith's a better fit, they got Matt Ryan after that season, and now things are looking up.

I'm just fricking around. Yes, I do know how he left the Falcons, but I honestly hadn't seen that photo.

Honestly, I love it too.

Whether the Hogs win or lose, or have Petrino or don't, I'm going to be a fan of the team. I graduated from UA, spent some of my best years on campus, and I just enjoy going up on Saturdays for games, following recruiting, watching the coach's show, etc. It makes for a hell of a fall every year.

The guessing that comes with the coaching dominoes is probably just about as much fun, whether my coach is involved or not.

I'm not saying he wouldn't. I'm not saying he would, either, though. I couldn't blame him if he took the job. I mean, hell, it's Florida.

But at the same time, I think acting like it's a foregone conclusion that he'd take it is a little short-sighted.

Ok, not all of is fricking around. Like I said, there are some valid reports that he could be on the short list.

But you've got to admit, there's a lot of "troll-level" ribbing going on about the topic, too.

Petrino to UF Talk on TD

I find all these threads about Petrino to UF interesting. While a few journalists have put his name on a few short lists, most of the concentration by national media has been on Mullen, not Petrino. You wouldn't be able to tell it from TD threads.

I'm guessing that the fricking with Arkansas fans has resulted for two reasons, mostly:

1. Some of our posters have been obnoxious about winning, so as they say, payback's a bitch (especially for Ole Miss fans. I'd do it too, if I were you); and,

2. The traditional "SEC powers" would love to see Petrino to UF. It'd restore the balance of how things are "supposed to be." UF would get the coach they want, and Arkansas could go back to being a perennial "middle of the road" program instead of potentially being among the most competitive in the SEC, year in and year out.

Arkansas is a better place to live than UF.

Having lived in both Gainesville and Fayetteville, I actually do believe this statement. That's just a personal thing though, but certainly not unreasonable to believe that someone would feel that way.

Part of me hopes he's offered the job. If he takes it, he takes it. Can't blame him.

But more importantly, if he turns it down, maybe we'll finally stop hearing the Petrino to ______ rumors every time a Top 10 job becomes available.

Because, well, Florida IS Florida.

I mean, with him being from Arkansas, it is a chance for Arky to lock down a guy long-term (assuming he is successful as an HC of course).. with that said, would they really do that? a guy who has no head coaching experience?

Personally, I'd rather he prove himself as a HC (and his ability to assemble a staff, as that seems to be his biggest potential knock) somewhere else before Petrino moves on. I hope I have that luxury.
