Why are Saban coached teams incapable of playing with the lead?

it's all part of the process.

the process being that after a national championship year Saban coaches like he doesn't give a shite and then leaves for another job.

I love Saban's canned speeches. He hasn't said anything original in 10 years.

Bama Fans have just about come full Circle with Saban. They are learning everything we LSU Fans already knew. Saban is great at taking over a floundering program. He puts everything in place and the team wins the NC. But after all that his teams are pretty flat. All the motivation of going from a bad program to winning a NC is gone and Saban does not know how to keep it going.

Bama 2010 looks a whole lot like LSU 2004

Saban is a builder of programs, not a maintainer.

when you think about it he's incapable of doing the one thing he preaches over and over again.

RJYH, this loss was the most painful I can remember in 31 years of my life. The statement you just made was based on that and not very sound logic. We've played and won with the lead 35 of the last 40 games, won 2 West titles, 1 S.E.C Title, and 1 National Title over the course of 3 football seasons. This will pass and we will come back and win again. This game is a game of inches. A few plays go differently like the Ingram 25yd fumble, Trent's drop, or GMac's fumble, and we are all witnesses to the worst beatdown in Iron Bowl history and the thread would be a million pages about Saban being the best coach in football. However it didn't play out that way, AU played with a lot of heart and won. Congrats to them, but don't let the pain fool you into dumb comments about what I feel is still the best coach in the country.

we tried to tell the Bamers about Nick but they would not listen,

Nick is about Nick, not LSU, not the Tide, - just Nick

I am sure he has Jerry Jones on speed dial- and don't be surprised if Michigan gives him a call

He is just a coach- they all are- but fans stick through thick and thin and support their team

Saban teams with a lead seem to play scared. They look like they are having fun building the lead up, but then once they get the lead, they begin playing timid and scared just hoping to not be the guy who fricks the lead up and gets yelled at.

For instance, look at Barron's atrocious handling of the 2nd deep TD pass on him. If he is playing loose and naturally, his instincts kick in and he goes for the pick and likely gets it. Instead the "don't frick this up" mentality kicks in and he thinks too much. He ends up halfway going for the pick and halfway for the big hit and gets neither.

Saban constantly over-preaches the whole idea of not losing your composure when up big, when maybe he should be telling the guys to loosen up, have fun, and keep playing like they have been.

This is it, in a nutshell.

you know I do not remember this "Saban incapable of playing with a lead" talk last year when they won every game and blew out several opponents. Hell I understand many LSU fans are saying "told you so" and yet they did not complain when he was at LSU. It is only now because they feel betrayed he went to Alabama that they come out of the woodworks.

this post says it ALL..if things turn out different, good for Alabama. But this year sure does resemble LSU 1 year removed from a national title

You can't turn on your coach after one game.

FTR Auburn's season is eerily similiar to Bama's last year.

Saban is always focused on not losing the game when he gets the lead. It will never change. He tells his players to play 4 quarters. When the other team grabs the momentum Saban blames his team for not making the plays and not playing 4 quarters. What I love about Miles is he will take chances to take back the momentum. Saban does not does this.

losing 9 guys on defense from last year, losing the two top receivers on offense and the starting qb probably had something to do with what happened in the end -- as opposed to what happened last year on the winning drive.

J Lee comes in for one play after JJ gets hurt in the 4th quarter and uncorks a 42 pass to ice the game. AJ Mccarron comes in for Ginger needing to get to field goal range and he falls apart going 0-4.

bullshite. Folks are just saying, it's eerily similar to what happened after our NC year. Plenty of folks complaining then. Maybe you weren't around.

Maybe you were not around, we lost to Auburn and a BS XP penalty that you probably have not seen since, they lost to Iowa on a fluke hail mary where there was obvious holding, LSU lost 1 game badly and that was Georgia. The defense dropped from #1 to #3 the following season, the offense dropped 10 spots, LSU rotated 3 quarterbacks in and out of the line-up.

The fans did not start complaining till he bolted for the Dolphins and then to Alabama, which is when their "voice" got louder.

What do you expect him to maintain? He won a BCSCG, now he should win one every year? He's got a 9-3 record and 5 losses the last 3yrs.
His losses were to Nat'l Champs Florida, undefeated Utah, Undefeated Aub, Top 5 LSU, and USCe. Only one of the games was at home

If this is not maitaining, I'll take more please
