This is a rebuttal from one of your own (bayoulsucajun), who posted this on Hogville.net. Just thought I'd follow up with a few thoughts on why I think we'll win on Saturday.

1. Bobby Petrino - Petrino is still hated by the media (and Falcons fans alike), 3 years removed from his abrupt departure from the falcons, but his coaching skills have brought steady improvement every year he's been at arkansas, including beating LSU 1 out of 2 times. His only two losses this year were to a #1 ranked (at the time) Alabama, and Auburn, who is currently #2.

2. Joe Adams - Adams is a great punt and kick returner as well as a playmaker on offense. Peterson doesn't even need to waste his time trying to cover Adams.

3. Powerful Offense - The only other team in the league that has more offensive productivity than Arkansas is Auburn, which, coincidentaly, beat LSU on 10/23.

4. Sugar Bowl - Arkansas' only shot at a BCS bowl is by beating LSU. The players and coaches all believe they will be going if they win.

5. Overtime against MSU - Showed Arkansas that even on the road, playing a team that had as much emotional build-up as that game (last home game for MSU, and first home game since Nick Bell passed away), they came through all of that and still won. I think any team would have had their hands full playing that team on that day. This proves that UA takes every game seriously, and will play their hearts out against anyone.

6. Jake Bequette - I hope Jefferson is ready to get rocked by Jake, because it will happen multiple times.

7. Jordan Jefferson - He looked "good" against a horrible UM team last week. Arkansas' defense is much better than Ole Miss', and they will show it by getting at least 2 picks from Jefferson.

8. Special Teams - Arksansas' special teams have shown improvement as the year has progressed. Punter (Breeding) and place kicker (Hocker) are both young, but very good. Joe Adams returning punts is a threat to score every time he touches the ball.

9. Ryan Mallett - Mallet is the best Pro-style QB in the country. He is NFL ready, and if he leaves after this year, he wants to go out guns blazing. A trip to the Sugar Bowl (with a W) will put a nice little cherry on top of his collegiate career.

10. Battle for the Boot - Arkansas loves this game. The fans will be loud, and LSU will feel the affects of it. It may not be a rivalry to LSU, but it's a HUGE game to Arkansas, and that might just make the difference. The crowd will play the 12th man without a doubt.

Keys to winning an argument:

1) Start with erroneous facts.
2) Wait, what?

That douche goes to every opposing teams' message board with the same name and makes an arse of himself. Pay no attention to him.

Yup, you're right. We've won 2 of the last 3... Petrino was here for only one of those. Guess I was foreshadowing to this year, when his record will be 2 of 3 against you guys.

This was in direct rebuttal to one of your fans, just thought I'd have some fun with it.

Why would you want to go there? You're 1-2 liftime in the Sugar and 11-22 in bowls. Even when you had 3 NFL RB's on the same team you couldn't win a bowl.

I guess I should have posted the original instead of linking it... I tried to do one of those "turn it around" deals, but it's not working since the original format isn't here. Here, this is what the guy posted on our forums, just for a little perspective.

quote:

1. Les Miles - Miles was chastised at the beginning of the year by the media, but he is a great coach. He is 61-16 at LSU with a National Championship.

2. Patrick Peterson - Peterson is a great punt and kick returner as well as a shut down corner. Mallet doesn't even need to waste his time looking at that side of the field.

3. Defensive Youth - LSU plays a ton of freshman on defense including Michael Brockers, Tyran Mathieu, Craig Loston, Eric Reid, Barkevious Mingo, Tharold Simon, and Sam Montgomery before he got hurt. These young players are hungry and talented.

4. Sugar Bowl - LSU is playing for a berth in the Sugar Bowl. Arkansas is pretty much setting their fate between the Cotton, Capital One and Outback.

5. Overtime against MSU - First off, MSU is not nearly as good as their record. Secondly, Arkansas is now worn out due to the overtime last week.

6. Drake Nevis - Mallet better introduce himself early, because he will see a lot of the soon to be All American in the backfield.

7. Jordan Jefferson - Jefferson is playing much better as of late. He really is a dual threat qb and has found his groove with our talented bunch of wr's. He is capitalizing on his potential.

8. Special Teams - LSU wins with all 3 phases including special teams. The kick coverage, punt coverage, return game and kicking game are great.

9. Ryan Mallett - Mallet is gone after this season. He is going to play these last 2 games to just not get hurt. Look for him to get rid of the ball too quickly.

10. Battle for the Boot - LSU fans don't care about the stupid boot like Arkansas fans do. We care about the possibility of going to a BCS bowl and an outside shot at the bcs championship. This is just another game on our schedule. Arkansas is not considered a rival.

None of those reasons were particularly convicing, even from a third party, completely neutral standpoint.

When did Arkansas fans start caring about the "Boot"? That one is new to me.

I think most feel the same as LSU fans that the Boot thing is forced. The players might like it but I don't think it's a big deal to the fans at all.

Question. Who has the better defense. Alabama or Arkansas?
