The media is setting them up for an epic fail.

ESPN blog on top 25

So they say Texas and UF are overrated because they lose some key players and most of their defense, but Alabama gets a free pass in that category, and is not listed as overrated, instead, left as the obvious #1.

How the frick does that make any logical sense at all?

My only conclusion is that the media is setting Alabama up for an epic fail this season so they can spend weeks talking about how Alabama screwed the pooch.

So your underlying message is UF is No. 1.

Why didn't you just have the balls to say it?

Probably becaused we kicked UF's and UT's asses the last two games?

I think Alabama's returning defensive line is overated, and Hightower is not better than McClain, or nearly the leader that he was.

Alabama returns all skill positions on offense, save for TE. Texas lost their starting and winningest QB ever. Florida replaces arguably their best QB ever too. All three lost some defense.

i agree with you i just dont see how you can win a sec or natl title when you have to replace so many starters on defnse. not flaming but that defense worked as a cohesive unit last year and now they have to replace them with talented but inexperienced players. there a ten win team but undefeated is hard to imagine.

The only poll that matters comes out October 17.
Wish the coaches had put us #3 though, Hate that
target on our backs.

When you have players like...

Mark Ingram
Mark Barron
Trent Richardson
Marcell Dareus
Donta Hightower
Julio Jones

It's not hard to come to the conclusion we should be #1.

I would have to agree here. Teams like Texas, Ohio State, and Boise State should be ahead of us. All three teams are solid and have depth. Alabama is the same way for the most part, but the schedules for the aforementioned teams just line up better for them. Outside of Iowa and maybe Penn State, OSU will more than likely have no problem running the table. The same goes for Texas with Oklahoma and Boise State with Virginia Tech. If I were ranking them I would do something like this:

1. Ohio State
2. Boise State
3. Texas
4. Alabama
5. Florida

Ok so look at floida. They lose the best qb in their schools history, best linemen, leading receiver and Hernandez on offense. They lose both their de's,star lb,Cb AND Defensive coach. How many household names do they return? lol yeah.Oh wait I'm forgetting florida just reloads every year and leadership, new staff members, new qb who hasn't started a game,ect.. shite like that doesn't matter, right?

Everyone knows who Bama brings back. So I don't have to type all that out. The losses on Defense and special teams will hurt. No shite. They might not go 14-0 hell they might not win the west but you can bet your arse they will tear Florida a new a-hole in BD next season.

My only post in this thread will be to perpetuate the Op's cause.

I hope more and more people feel this way. I hope it becomes the national perception. It's easier to drive a car under less pressure. Not to mention it will help to mimic the feeling of faith from within of last year's team :)

So, sure... bet your arse off that Bama is over-rated.
