Why has Florida been so dominant over UGA ?

First of all, this is not a flame as UGA is by far my second favorite SEC school after Ole Miss.
For the past two decades Florida has won 17 times to UGA's 3. Ouch ! What's the deal?

It's been more like 85% for the past 20 years.

17 to 3 is way overblown. If we're pulling ancient history let the record show us leading the series by 7 games. It's 2-4 in the last 6 and is a DJ Schockley injury away from being 3-3.

I don't know. It almost seems like its ok to lose that game. I for one would like to see Georgia bring their "A" game and make it more competetive. The talent is there but drive and heart to win seems nonexistant.

The same could be asked about why Alabama has been so dominant over Ole Miss. Alabama leads the series 43-9-2, I believe.

Coaching, coaching, coaching and oh by the way, coaching.

I was going to post that in the opening post. We can't beat y'all the years we are supposed to..although it hasn't been that way for a while.

So before it was 17-3 it was 13-1? And thats better?
I agree that it is an interesting question as the talent level has been pretty equal on both sides of the feild and considering Georgia had stronger coaching for at least part of that two decade period. Strange the way things like this work themselves out over time.

The series changed once Spurrier showed up. Under Vince Dooley, UGA usually had the upper hand. It's been all UF since Spurrier and I don't see it changing soon.

Not really. I'll take Urban over Richt any day, and Spurrier over Ray Goff and Jim Donnan isn't even a contest, but even Zook owned UGA. It goes beyond coaching.

No, before it was 2-4 it was 1-13.

Talent and HC aside, UGA has to get their stones and willpower to a 'fire meets fire' level to contend vs Fla head-to-head.
UF is in their heads, owns them mentally, and much like LSU over MSU, Bama over Ole Miss, UT over Vandy, etc..the players just know it's a week to shine and keep the avalanche rolling downhill.

And just to reiterate this from the 20 years pre-Spurrier UGA was 15-5 against UF. Since Spurrier UGA is 3-17 vs UF. One hell of a shift. I never even realized the counter domination in that series until I looked that stat up.

UT over Vandy,
I think UT over UK would be a better match for the head games thing. Especially the way some of those games have ended.

Geez...Spurrier definitely is a major reason for the shift then

A 2-1 record with both of those wins coming by a combined ten points is not what I call "owning" another team. Saban had a 2-4 record against Florida coming into last year and I can't recall a single person mentioning how Florida has owned Saban throughout his coaching career.

This. Florida hasn't "owned" UGA since Spurrier. The last two years were brutal, but Georgia wins this year they'll quickly be forgotten.
