Which school tends to be more of a "national" school? IOW, which of these 2 skoolz are more attractive outside of the state of Alabama? I'd have to say Auburn.

It depends on your major I guess. If I wanted to be a Vet then Auburn, I guess Bama has a good Law school, but that's all I got.

Regardless of who actually deserves it. Alabama is always gonna look more attractive because of exposure. Auburn's inferiority complex is justified. They don't get quite as much respect from the media that they deserve.

I'm gonna say bama based on name alone. Everybody knows Alabama. Not everyone knows where auburn is. Not sayin everyone knows what city bama is in, but they know the state, and a lot of people think auburn is in Georgia(I wish)

Can't speak for other states, but from a state of Georgia perspective, Auburn is more attractive. Lots of kids from my high school went to Auburn...about 3 went to Alabama.

Alabama has a reputation built on football, but it's really an excellent school.

Auburn? I'm not sure how many non-football fans could identify what state it's in. And that's not meant as a knock in any way, it's a good school too.

Why Auburn on a national basis? Not bashing...just curious. I think more people are familiar with Alabama across the country. I mean, I hate them just like the next person, but i think they have more of a national rep than Auburn.

I don't see either school attracting, engineers or pre-med students.

UAB has a phenomenal medical school, though.

I somewhat viewed AU as a school people outside Alabama would enjoy going to. Not sure why. Plus when people think of AUBURN they don't think of the color in most respects. When people think of Alabama the first thing they think of is .... _______ insert here.

I'm pretty sure Auburn has one of the highest percentages of out of state students in the SEC.

Just my opinion (and it may be b/c I went there) but I think of Auburn as bringing in more kids from across the nation than Alabama.

Again, that may not be grounded in reality. I'm sure there are statistics out there that could determine the answer.

Engineering in General, but big in Mechanical and Aerospace. Helped lead to the high number of AU astronauts.

Auburn draws huge from metro Atlanta, and AU grads are well regarded in the area.

I live in Maryland and honestly can't even remember the last time I saw a person or car carrying around Auburn gear. I've seen a good number of Alabama, LSU and South Carolina car flags and clothing, Florida, Tennessee, Kentucky and even people repping Arkansas. But Auburn fans are nonexistent up here.
