Nike.. damn.

quote:
The University of Alabama athletic department has agreed to a lucrative extension of its contract with equipment/apparel provider Nike through the 2018 season, a deal that could net as much $30 million in cash and equipment for UA, making it one of the largest such deals in all of intercollegiate athletics.
With the seven-year extension projected to net more than $4 million annually for UA, the new UA deal ranks as the largest yet awarded by Nike and, according to available figures for public institutions, is the second largest deal (on an annual basis) in intercollegiate athletics.
quote:
North Carolina currently has a 10-year deal with Nike that pays UNC approximately $33.7 million. The new Alabama extension will pay the Crimson Tide at a higher annual rate — over $4 million per year — over the next seven years.
In addition to cash compensation, all team and coaching apparel and other considerations, UA will also receive a 12 percent royalty rate on Nike merchandise associated with the Tide.

Awesome. Nike is the only true champion clothing line. All others are 2nd rate.

Under Armour will make a serious push to top Nike in next 5-10 years.
Under Armour has bombarded the youth market and has won brand loyalty. once that age group blossoms it will be neck and neck.
Nike is still king in our eyes in most part b/c of brand loyalty during our generation(s).

It's not. They're gonna make opposing teams wave Nike flags when they run out of the tunnel.
