Postal Service Celebrates Crimson Tide

Alabama's "A-Day" Memento: Savoring last year's victory, anticipating another year of achievement

Victory feels good. It looks good too.

Beginning Saturday, April 17 two Post Offices in Alabama will offer an affordable and lasting tribute to the Crimson Tide's victory over the Texas Longhorns.

Postmarked by the United States Postal Service, this cachet collectible commemorates A-Day and another season of victory.

Printed on silk and stamped with crimson foil, it is a memento that grabs attention and sparks conversation.

Fans of football can make it theirs beginning A-Day at the Tuscaloosa Post Office, 1313 22ND Avenue; and the University Station Post Office at 104 Ferguson Center.

The cachet costs $10 and supply is limited. Once they're gone, they're gone, say Postal officials.

Here's what it looks like....

Will you only be able to get it at those post offices in Tuscaloosa? And not in Birmingham? I'd like to have one, but I won't be able to come to A-Day. My mom is in rehab after 2 weeks with pneumonia.

From reading the article, it will probably be issued only at the Ferg and Tuscaloosa post offices on A-Day.

Those post offices aren't going to know what hit them. I bet there will be tens of thousands of people trying to get them.

Those P.O.s are a disaster on a regular day. Can't imagine what 90K rednecks will do to them.

Even the Postal Service knows Bama fans will buy up anything in Crimson with a script A on it...couple that with some sort of National Championship tie-in, and you've got a must have item.

Kinda like the "12" on all the helmets you saw printed on T-shirts, newspapers, magazines, and ESPN broadcasts prior to this year and even directly prior to the BCS Championship... Representative of the number of National Championships.

And on the postgame set after we won the title this year, they had swapped the 12 helmet for a 13...
