No offense xiv, but UGA/UF is absolutely above UGA/AU and Florida/Tennessee. Like I said above, just because UGA/AU is the oldest in the south doesn't mean it has a ton of hatred. On the contrary, it's pretty friendly, all things considered.

In 1916, after a Tech game in athens, Georgia fans derailed Tech's train back to Atlanta causing a major accident. It caused the series to be put on hold for a decade. Now THAT is a rivalry.

I'm thinking about tampering with a few horse shoes at the next Iron Bowl. 7 or 8 of em go falling off the hay rack and the shite gets real.

How much of a rivalry could it be when one school has won 18 out of the last 21 meetings?

I know the Arkansas vs LSU game isn't much of a true rivalry, but look at how competitive it has been the last five years:

2005 17 - 19 LSU
2006 26 - 31 LSU
2007 50 - 48 Arkansas
2008 31 - 30 Arkansas
2009 30 - 33 LSU

The biggest margin of victory was 5 pts in 2006, and the total spread is only 7 pts, in LSU's favor. 4 out of 5 games have been decided by a field goal or less. At least two of these games (2009 and 2007) went to overtime.

This has turned out to be a pretty exciting series. It doesn't deserve to be highly rated among the SEC rival games, but I think it does deserve to be respected.

I would bet one million dollars that you've never been to the game. What you say makes perfect sense, but if you've ever been in Jacksonville on gameday it'd be perfectly clear.

The LSU/Arkansas rivalry is BY FAR the most underappreciated in the SEC. They made a big deal for years about how the LSU/Auburn winner so often went to Atlanta, when the LSU/Arkansas game yielded the SECW representative more often.

I, personally, can't stand Arkansas. I'm on the LSU alumni board in New York, and I get together with members of the Arky board up here, and we always make dinner bets with our games. I was watching this past year's LSU/Arky game with the Hog fans at Mad Hatter on 3rd Avenue, and they were devastated when LSU won. I loved it.

LSU fans bash the idea of the Boot, but hopefully one day we'll realize that Arkansas is our biggest rival (and the one who hates us the most).

I actually went to one, but it wasn't in Jacksonville. It was in Athens, and man o man Georgia kicked some arse that day.

(I'm just messin' with ya, bud )

i've been to the last two AR-LSU games in baton rouge. There isn't a lot of hate in the rivalry, which I think is why a lot of people blow it off. But there sure is a lot of competitiveness.

Both teams want to win it badly, and the closeness over the years has made it a stronger rivalry, forced or not. I think it'll grow into its own if Arkansas gets good enough where they're playing for more than just respect.

Well in 94 and 95, which was one of the 2 games you went to, you didn't get the real atmosphere. First of all, we SUCKED arse both of those years. Also, florida was bad to the bone. Also, this game just isn't the same on campus. I'm telling you, go to a game in Jacksonville. People start showing up on Monday. The landing is packed from Wednesday to Sunday. It is, without a doubt, the biggest party you'll ever go to. It got it's name for a reason. Walk down the street on gameday and you will get it from the other team's fans.

Why is LSU and Ole Miss (Magnolia Bowl) not on more people's list? If you ask a fair amount of Ole Miss fans dislike LSU more than they dislike Miss State.

1. Iron Bowl
2. Cocktail Party
3. Alabama/Tennessee

If this were 40 years ago, LSU/Ole Miss would be up in there.

1. Iron Bowl - nuff said

2. UF-FSU- Has lost some luster but I think Jimbo brings it back.

3. OM-MSU - Intensity definitely returning to 90s form.

4. Aub-UGA - How could this be left off the OP?

5. UGA-GT - Classic. Should have some good ones in the future with what PJ is building in ATL.

6. Ala- Tenn - Fulmer helped fuel an already intense rivalry

7. Ark-LSU - Not as much history as others but still a good one.

8. S Car - Clem

9. UT-UF - def not what it was when the big orange and darth visor were roaming the sidelines and now with kiffin gone but still noteworthy.

10. Aub-LSU - Some viscous games in the past 10 yrs.

got it right.

I couldn't disagree with you more, but to each his own. Just because a series is competitive and/or has a divisional championship on the line doesn't make it a rivalry. Numerous Arkansas fans will tell you they hate Texas (their real rival) and Ole Miss (due to the Nutt situation) much more than LSU. Numerous LSU fans will express their hatred towards Alabama, Auburn, and Ole Miss more than Arkansas. It is really hard to have a rivalry with a team that you haven't really played that often. We have only played annually since 1992. Before that, the last time the two played was in 1966. Before that, 1956. It's just not that big of a rivalry imho.
