I agree man. I was just surprised you had us behind Ms. State and Arky so low.

Miss. State is screwed on the QB front....their chance at making noise this year was cashing in on Mullen's prior relationship with Newton.

Fwiw on my rankings, it's so close that I wouldn't be surprised if Auburn ended up 2nd.

Couldn't agree more. Alabama is loaded but how well can they reload? LSU is stacked but can the coaching improve? MS. State is on the rise but can Dan Mullen keep the momentum going? Can Arkansas continue to improve even if Mallett doesn't return? Will SC improve on offense? Will Ole Miss be able to replace Snead? Will Auburn continue to improve and start playing better on Defense when a little more depth arrives?

Keep all the #6 Ole Miss coming. Under the radar, the way Nutt likes it!

West
1. Auburn- Malzahn uses Newton, Dyer, and Co. along with veteran O-line and playmaking WR's to establish the top offense in the SEC, defensive depth keeps teams from clawing back.

2. Alabama-Obviously they're talented and have a ton of depth on both sides of the ball. Iron Bowl should determine the West.

3. LSU- Sooner or later the hype has to be lived up to. Way too much talent to have this team underachieving three years in a row. If so, look for Miles to be on the hot seat.

4. Ole Miss- Maybe all of the high expectations were a year too soon? Rebels, led by a senior Jevan Snead (assuming he returns), could flourish with less pressure to succeed. Nutt always manages to lose some he shouldn't though.

5. Arkansas- Petrino continues to establish himself as an offensive genius, but the loss of Mallett will hinder progress in 2010. Until a solid replacement is found, look for them to take a step back.

6. Mississippi State- Dan Mullen is making the right strides, but seriously can anyone succeed in Starkville without cheating? They'll win one or two they're not supposed to, but aren't going to be much of a contender.

All of the sudden it seems the power of the conference is shifting Westwardly. UGA seems to have peaked, reminiscent of the final Tuberville years, despite excellent recruiting. Florida remains a big unknown without Tebow and possibly Meyer, especially if they lose alot of their juniors. Tennessee is recruiting well, but sooner or later all of the bad karma up in Rocky Top will bite them. Spurrier will spend another season diminishing his legacy with mediocracy, and Kentucky and Vandy will be there normal selves.

Should be a very interesting year in the SEC and I look forward to it very much.

If Mallett stays the hogs have a fighters chance to win the West. Even if he does stay I still think that Alabama takes the west.

If Mallett stays

1. Bama 2. Arkansas 3. Auburn Tie at 4 Ole Miss/LSU and then Miss St.

Auburn always seems to play well on the road, especially in the Iron Bowl.

Obviously I'm not guaranteeing anything, but don't be shocked to see Auburn compete for the West next fall.

I'd say most would rank Chizik's first season above Saban's, both followed up with elite recruiting classes.

The Rivalry should get fun over the next few years.

Haha alright from your perspective, I guess one great recruiting class may not mean much. (no offense)

But we figure if Bama can do it, why not us?
The new staff has made tremendous strides not only in recruiting, but on the field as well. They took virtually all of the same players from the 2008 team and turned them into a unit that could compete with any team in the nation. We're just excited to see what they can do with some real elite talent is all.

Very good chance of that happening next year. Expect a large step up on Auburn's offense and the defense will likely be 3rd to 4th in the SEC at worst next year. If Auburn catches a few breaks there could be a big run next season.

That said the West won't be decided until the final game it is wide open.
