Is it safe to assume that if he commits to Auburn that he was guaranteed the starting job? If so that is an interesting gamble. High risk high reward if he struggles he will be negating a lot potentially explosive play makers. But if he plays well Auburn's offense should be really good.

No, it's not safe to assume.

If not why not go to State? That was part of the deal I thought. He only has two years of eligibility left and would obviously start at State.

No coach is going to guarantee a kid who has no previous experience in their particular system a starting spot. They're going to promise them a legitimate shot at earning that spot, but it would be stupid on their part to do anything more than that. And I'm sure MSU has told him the same thing.
ETA - You paint yourself into a corner by doing that, and I'd think the coaching staff is smarter than that. Is it okay for us fans to go ahead and pencil him in as a starter next year? Sure, but I don't think you'll get the coaches doing that. Nobody thought Christie Todd would be our starting QB coming out of the A-Day game, but things worked out in his favor. Like you alluded to in your original post, he could very well get on campus and stink shite up...the coaches aren't going to guarantee anything without seeing what he can do in their offense first.

Didn't this kid get into some trouble at Florida?

Yeah he stole a computer and when the police knocked on his door he threw it out the window. He has straightened up though.

I doubt any of our QBs will beat him out.

Barn lock... JUCO QBs are usually fail in the SEC tho - maybe he can buck the trend.

If he doesn't go to Miss St, will there be an epic meltdown considering the amount of threads we've had to read about this guy the last few weeks? I'm thinking yes.

Miss St will hate Auburn the way Arkansas hates Auburn now since we got Dyer. I will still love mksub79 though

Probably so, but they might already be smelling the roses.
You never want to be in the position where you are counting on JUCOs for anything - that road always leads to fail.

They do it all the time. Mullen coached him at Fla. This is either a plus or a minus for State.
