From what I understood, he wasn't heavily recruited in Bama and/or was told he would have to wait.

From what I heard Bama and Auburn didn't want him to play QB.

I'm probably wrong but I think I remember hearing NCST was his only 1A scholarship offer. Monumentally stupid decision on Bama and Aubbie's part.

Ole Miss and Moo State wouldn't give Brett Favre the time of day, either. Curley Hallman told Steve McNair he couldn't play QB.

It happens to every team at some point

FWIW, he grew up a huge Auburn fan, wanted to go there, but we had a kid out of Mississippi named Jason Campbell.

Because Alabama recruited him as a TE, and Auburn didn't recruit him at all. At least there's another shot at a Rivers. His younger brother is in the 2011 class.

The whole freekin world told Marshall Faulk he couldn't play RB, only DB (except SD State).

Recruiting is obviously an inexact science/art.

Have you seen him throw? Would you have offered him a scholarship?

FWIW, I grew up with Rivers. He's one heck of a competitor.

I thought NC State was his only QB offer...I'm pretty sure Bama offered him at safety.

Auburn offered Andrew Zow as a safety.
