UGA just got another unsportsmanlike call early in the 2d Q

#17 did a half-arse spike after making a great catch against Vandy.
The officials seem to keep the Dawgs on a tight leash. Can't Richt get the message across to his players?

Isn't he the one that got a flag for a demonstration after making a big catch against LSU? Number sure sounds familiar

I concur but SEC Network guys were dubious. It was definitely the type of act that the rule contemplates.
Great catch neutralized by a stupid act. Celebrate after the game.

The refs have been on UGA since their little dance, blame Richt.

Seriously? You think that UGA should be held to a tighter standard based on something that happend 2 years ago?
FWIW, I thought the call on Wootens throwing the ball was legit.

While UGA gets flags for smiling after a touchdown, Florida is allowed to taunt opponents by stomping on their logo at midfield before the game. That seems fair.

sound bitter
After the HC TELLS his team to get a penalty Refs will pay closer attention and be more apt to throw flags over more minor details they wouldn't bother with other teams. The Flag on Green vs LSU was BS, but it was thrown because the refs now think UGA's coaches allow it.

Different play. Green's was after a TD. The one I'm thinking about was about a 25 yd gain to the around the 15 yard line. He made the catch and got up and began gesturing like crazy.

7 instead of 17. Gotcha I knew there was a 7 in there somewhere.

I think that all teams should be held to a very high standard, but I think the below states the case well.

Yeah, that explains what that person and you think is occuring, I'm asking if you actually support such horseshite? You want the refs holding vendettas 2 years down the road and letting it impact how they call games?

I do not think officials should engage in vendettas, but my experience in law practice shows that even judges are human. Judges need to keep control of the courtroom and game officials need to keep control of the playing field. (An excellent example is the US-Costa Rica soccer match this past week.)
The two calls in the LSU-UGA game were at best abuses of discretion, and the officials should have erred on the side of not making them. That having been said I am bothered that coaches at the level of Richt and Miles cannot get their players off the field quickly after a big play and make them act like grown ups. They represent universities and should behave that way.
The officials need to enforce the rules. If the calls did not impact the game, why have the rules and penalties?
As far as vendettas go, SEC officials seem to be pretty quick to call penalties on LSU. I will leave that topic for the Tiger Rant.
Maybe the coaches should confront the SEC officials about these perceived problems. That may be enough to get them to back off.

Later in the same game, Cox is sacked, has his towel removed and it's thrown up in the air.
No call.
No call.

I noticed the same play, kid sacks him, uses Cox's towel for a party favor, and no call. I dont think it SHOULD be a call personally, but it has to be if the other BS calls are made.
