I think you guys are underestimating Tyrod's ability to throw the ball.

99 of 173 passing 1036 yds 2 tds 7 ints would lead you to do that.

It's just a prediction, I didn't bet on anything

I picked VT because Bama has Oline questions and their first game is against a pretty good defense.

One thing I know for certain. If Bama wins, VT will have been greatly overrated.

VT always has a good team with a mediocre at best offense. In a lot of ways, Bama will be playing a mirror image of itself. I’m excited for this game. I haven’t decided who to root for yet. My brother went to VT and I usually root for them, but I also like to mess with him.

Wilceaux...it's not like we are just underestimating Tyrod's passing ability just for kicks. Past performance speaks louder than any words or opinion. (See above)

24-13 Bama.....should be a good game.. i think bama has too much athleticism in their front 7 for vt and should completely disrupt vt's offense...i think bamas offense will struggle some, vt does have a decent D, but will ride their D and their running game to victory...wouldnt be surprised to see a punt return or a score on D for bama

Saban's defenses are at their worst against a mobile QB that can throw. He thrives on non-mobile QBs (see Whitehurst, Stafford). Bama's defense will be stellar, but beatable. If and that's a big IF, Taylor can make plays throwing the ball, while neutralizing Bama's blitz, they will have a good chance. However, I think Bama prevails... Bama 17-13

Bama and it isn't close. I don't think Bama will repeat last year's success, but VT with TT at QB is not a scary thing. I don't think Bama will be all too prolific on offense with their OL and a QB with 20 game snaps in his career, but the D will shut VT down.

For the record, I believe Matthew Stafford was the best scrambling (meaning running around to throw) QB we played all last year.

Neither one of those guys have concrete in their cleats. Both run pretty well.

I think we'll play with 8 guys in the box and VT will have to beat us over the top or find a way to run with 8 (or 9 versus two back set) in the box.

Bama better win. I dont wanna listen to the talking heads all year saying "Well the ACC had one of its teams take down the team that many were expecting to win the SEC West."

They will use that crap against us every time the SEC plays an OOC opponent.

I've been picking VT since they want to avenge their SEC loss in BR 2 years ago when they were embarrassed on National TV.

I think this will play a bigger part than people think. Tech is going to come in hyped up trying not to get embarrassed again.

I agree with the toss-up. I was thinking VT would win straight up, but with Evans / RB out, it could go either way. Tierod has played in big games and has generally found enough holes in the opposing defenses to score some points.

Yes McElway could be an upgrade, but this will be his first start. Is he in sync with the Bama receivers? Usually takes a while to get that going. Bud Foster's defenses have had success in tripping up young QB's.

The difference might be a late pick or fumble by an nervous young QB. On the other hand, the difference might be a kick returned for a TD by Bama (Areanas - sp).

I'm hoping for a tight, exciting game.

This thing with Jones and Ingram is not decided yet. It's a distinct possibility that they may not be playing on Saturday...that changes everything offensively for Bama.
