yea and Petrino is moving QB's to TE. Petrino is moving Lb's to DE and back to Lb, and back to DE again. Nutt moved one WR, to DE and he went on to be the #8 over all pick in the 2007 nfl draft. Arkansas is a program that will have to do stuff like that to compete b/c you aren't going out and consistantly getting 2 or 3 SEC caliber defensive ends per signing class.

I'm not impressed with the way Petrino runs his program. I'm not impressed that the best player in the state is favoring NUTT over PETRINO right now.

1) Petrino moved one QB that Nutt had offered to TE. He honored the scholly Nutt offered, or the kid would never have been playing QB at Arkansas. It's mind-boggling he offered him over Wilson.

2) Petrino has bounced Tank Wright between DE and LB. That's it. Tank is one of those hybrid guys with no true position. He'll probably play both this year...maybe standing up out of his stance and shifting back to LB or walking down on the line.

3) Nutt moved countless WR's to DE, DB's to LB, and DE's to DT, etc. I can remember Anthony Brown for one....yes, one of them worked when Jamaal Anderson blew up and was a great DE. But banking on recruiting a 6'2'' 205 lb WR and making an SEC lineman out of him is a horrible recruiting strategy, and one Nutt loved.

4) Dyer isn't favoring Nutt over anyone. From the horse's mouth it is AUBURN in the lead, with Ole Miss and Arkansas tied for third.

What you should be impressed with is that it won't kill our program if Dyer doesn't come to Arkansas. Why not? Because Petrino doesn't build his program around the once-ever-five-years-Arkansas-produces-MJ or DMAC program like Nutt did.

There is a precedent for QB's being moved to TE and starring and ending up in the NFL...See Jay Riemersma(Sp?) at Michigan.

Nutt offered Youngblood over Wilson b/c Wilson had never taken a snap under center. Wilson today a year and a half later still has trouble. He might take 15 in a row and get to the goal line and fumble so that's a huge problem to have. YOungblood fit Nutt's philosphy better but, Nutt was recruiting another drop back passer from Kansas I believe, named Cale Pick that he informed in october of 07 he was likely not going to be there in 08. Nutt may have moved Youngblood to another posistion. Really, there is nothing wrong so far with the strategy. Nutt has won 2 SEC wests and tied for a 3rd and Arkansas is the 9th hardest place to win in the SEC out of 12 teams. So, obviously, until someone wins more at Arkansas than Nutt did, or takes the program further than Nutt did, Nutt posistion moves prove to be the philosphy in the best interest of the program. Recruiting 220 lbs DE and making them 290 lbs interior linemen may be the only way to compete longterm at Arkansas.

I also think even if Dyer is stating Ole Miss and Arkansas are "tied" there is no excuse for that. Is this not a kid that had he come through here 7 years ago you would be saying "but he grew up wanting to a a hog, just like Mcfadden" Well if that's the case then the recruiting battle is being lost simply by the fact that you agree it's a tie right now. It souldn't be a tie unless the out of state coach is the superior recruiter. I think Dyer is saying it's TN, Auburn and Ole Miss all tied. I don't think he really mentions Arkanas much does he?
