Has there ever been a Heisman winner from a sub-par team? Not flaming, as I don't expect Auburn to be a contender this year either FWIW. I would just expect the winner to come from a BCS Bowl team...

I was wondering what this was for...

Obama has a better chance winning for president as a republican in 2012.

Sure. Notre Dame went 2-9 one year and their quarterback, Paul Hornung, beat out Johnny Majors for the Heisman.
But that's because it was Notre Dame
He won't win because we won't be that good and he plays defense, and defensive players don't typically win the Heisman (Charles Woodson not withstanding
). But it should be good publicity, and people will at least be talking about Berry in the discussion.

No one expects him to win, just more publicity.

How does it feel losing to crappy teams?

Actually the Heisman used to go to the best player, rather than a player on the best team.
ETA: I like how they put "The first defensive player to deserve one." It looks like some people still have their feelings hurt about Peyton getting the snub.

How does it feel to lose to a crappy team 24 times in a row. The last time Kentucky beat Tennessee was the last time Kige saw his pecker.

Of late, the trend has been for the winner to come from a BCS team. Exceptions are there but the reasoning is more about NCAA records or the record of the closest competition.
Tebow won with a 9-3 record at the time of the vote over an 8-4 McFadden.
Ron Dayne won at 10-2...but he broke Ricky Williams' NCAA rushing record.
Ricky Williams won at 9-3...setting a new NCAA rushing mark.
You really have to go all the way back to Tim Brown to find a skill position player other than RB/QB that won with a meh record. ND finished 8-4. At time of vote, 8-3.
Since 2006:
2006 Troy Smith Ohio State (Quarterback) Final Record: 12-1
2005 Reggie Bush USC (Running Back) Final Record: 12-1
2004 Matt Leinart USC (Quarterback) Final Record: 13-0
2003 Jason White Oklahoma (Quarterback) Final Record: 12-2
2002 Carson Palmer Southern California (Quarterback) Final Record: 11-2
2001 Eric Crouch Nebraska (Quarterback) Final Record: 11-2
2000 Chris Weinke Florida State (Quarterback) Final Record: 11-2
1999 Ron Dayne Wisconsin (Running Back) Final Record: 10-2
1998 Ricky Williams Texas (Running Back) Final Record: 9-3
1997 Charles Woodson Michigan (Cornerback) Final Record: 12-0
1996 Danny Wuerffel Florida (Quarterback) Final Record: 12-1
1995 Eddie George Ohio State (Running Back) Final Record: 11-2
1994 Rashaan Salaam Colorado (Running Back) Final Record: 11-1
1993 Charlie Ward Florida State (Quarterback) Final Record: 12-1
1992 Gino Torretta Miami (Quarterback) Final Record: 11-1
1991 Desmond Howard Michigan (Wide Receiver) Final Record: 10-2
1990 Ty Detmer Brigham Young (Quarterback) Final Record: 10-3
1989 Andre Ware Houston (Quarterback) Final Record: 9-2
1988 Barry Sanders Oklahoma State (Running Back) Final Record: 10-2
1987 Tim Brown Notre Dame (Wide Receiver) Final Record: 8-4
