Les Miles Will Not Win Another SEC Championship At LSU

I remember when I first moved to Baton Rouge. I saw this schedule at Voodoo BBQ asking fans to "Do More For Les." I'm a sucker for clever wordplay, so I dug it.
That gets me to this point, no one does Les With More than Les Miles. The only team able to bring equal talent in the SEC was Florida since he's been at LSU. For two years he got to coach against Mike Shula, Coach O, and Croom every season. Houston fricking Nutt was probably the best coach he faced in the West over that stretch. I love Houston, but he's not an elite coach.
Now he does have a 2-2 record with Urban and a 1-1 record with Saban. This obviously means they're equals right. When you look at the forest of stats, sometimes you miss the trees of circumstance that make it up. He hit Urban his first year at UF, without the system fully in place and at Tiger Stadium after being crushed by Alabama. The other one took five fourth down conversions against a team starting freshman on defense everywhere. That's not a knock, beating Florida is certainly doing something right. Look on the other end. The Gators outlasted LSU in 2006, a team that I still think was the most talented in the country by a fair measure that year. Then you have this year...
Also when is the last time you heard about a great coach having players quit on him during the year? When was the last time USC had an LSU style meltdown of last year? Urban Meyer? Steve Spurrier at UF, because you know he's not trying at USClite. Bob Stoops? Jim Tressel? LSU fans want Miles in the same breath, but he's got to rally the team after Bama and come out and spank Troy.
So we come to today. The West now is home to Nick Saban and Bobby Petrino. Houston Nutt is still in the mix, with more talent than he ever had at Arkansas (though I admit this will probably change after this year). Florida has risen completely in the East, making beating the East team much more difficult if LSU is lucky enough to get through Saban at Bama and whatever other SEC West school is causing ruckus that year.
What say the good people of the SEC Rant?

Zero chance. It's May though, so I need something to talk about and I like to stir shite.

Miles will be fired after Mullen's new spread offense puts the beatdown on him this year, IMO.

well. i'll say one thing. if this thread doesn't pull the posts, then there is no hope for the rest of the night on SEC rant.
also, it's hard to know this is true if he keeps recruting as well as he has. but, on the other hand, i think he's a mediocre coach with a hell of a staff. *edit* so he'll have to work double hard on his stupidity to pull off messing some stuff up bad.

Teams are catching up in the arms race now. He's had to rely on talent to win as many games as he did. Plus look, half of coaching is recruiting. I know this makes him at least a decent coach. I just don't think he matches up against coaches who both recruit and have skill with xs and os.

Alright, I'm half trolling. I really want to discuss this a little bit. I got the wild idea earlier smoking a cigarette and wanted to discuss it. I don't even know if I really believe this yet. It's May, I want to throw out random observations and see how they pan out in discussion. I just tried to get some attention to start the discussion.

Hardly. I think Les Miles would certainly be a better coach for LSU and don't think he's up there with the two I mentioned before him. I was referencing the earlier paragraph where I said Nutt was the best coach he saw in the West each year.

And to think it started with the OP.

The man came into a great situation and has maintained it through recruiting. You said he has had to rely on his talent to win games...what in the hell does any coach have to rely on to win games? Fairy dust?
Guy recruits like a mother, has great assistants now (last year was a defensive disaster)...I'm not sure what the purpose of this thread is unless it is to merely try to start some spirited conversation.

why is Coach Saban regarded as the second coming of Christ?
he has had teans underachieve on saturdays and sundays... surprising upsets at bith bama and LSU
LSU has underachieved for years... for the longest time day games scared the daylights out of LSU fans.
Miles lost the plot in 2008... he'll have a team that can play in 2009 and a team ready to play for him,
I'll bet even money the nutt is gone at oxford before miles is done at BR...
will you put up your 'dukes?'

This is the post of a man who is feeling the buzz and is on his way to unconsciousness within the next hour or two.

lol yes. and to quick answer you, Duke even admited this was half flame to get some fun talk going. but, i half agree with him too. it's just too hard to call with as many things as Miles has goin for him. and btw, recruiting is probably the most crucial thing yes,... but coaching the boys to be men and play like men is a whole other thing. then X's and O's. but like i've been saying about Miles, if he does the CEO thing and let his assistant coaches do the X's and O's talk, then he'll be good to go.

i read each of the postings... I know his intent.
it is an LSU rant page.
still my contention is nutt is gone in oxford before miles is done in baton rouge.
I am convinced crowton is more problem than solution but you suggest miles needs to get out of the way.
