Oct. 10: at Ole Miss — Who would have ever believed this could be one of the top games of the year in the SEC? Could ESPN GameDay be at the Grove? Ole Miss has given Alabama fits lately, losing by 4, 3, 3 and 3 in the last four years. Are the Rebels finally due? With a veteran quarterback and emotion flowing faster than the bourbon in the stadium, the Tide better watch out here. Ole Miss 24-23.

where is this offense coming from without a QB?

11-1 is alot more optimistic than I. I think 10 is possible, but figure anywhere between 8 to 10 wins.

Did not realize we had to play without a QB. You are right, that will be difficult.

bama will continue to be a great program, but realistic expectations have to be that it will be a down year

you dont get better after losing your QB and All-American LT

we got lucky. That was the one perk from having a builder/developer who didn't care for trees. No trees on our street to blow down.

My parents and sister in Mtn Brook don't have power.

11-1?

without andre smith bama sucked last year. they could barely beat a horrible tulane team and got whipped by utah. no andre and a crap qb = lucky to get 8-9 wins

Saban's trend of never having had back-to-back 10 win seasons continues. 9-3 tops. I say 8-4.

Didn't he also have a "trend" of losing no less than three games in a season?

He's at Alabama now, like everyone else who has ever been at the helm, he'll have his greatest seasons as a coach here.

It would be too typical to say something to bash the bammers here. Finebaum, just curious if he has even seen a football game. To all the bammers, how close have any of his preivious predicitions been? I have listened to his show when I was in Birmingham several times and if he isn't full on in love with Nicky then there's no such thing as a homo.

We didn't have andre smith and his backup got hurt also in that game. But, I agree the o-line is a major concern. There are several guys coming in that were big time recruits in '08 and '09, so hopefully they can hold it down.

crap qb

This remains to be seen. Saying "Crap QB" is about like saying he is a "Great QB". We just don't really know. But, considering the HS stats at a 5A TX school and what little we've seen of him at Alabama... I would not put my money on "crap QB".

8-9 wins

Pretty nice schedule. More than 9 wins would be fantastic. But, less than 9 wins would be just about disastrous. If you look at the schedule, you should get what I mean.

Saban's tenure at Bama is looking remarkably like his tenure started at LSU. Up and down first year with one really bad loss (UAB/ULM) but ended in bowl victory. Overachieved 2nd year with a senior QB and a solid defense. Obvious difference in year 2 is the end result.

You can't deny the parallels. If I am a Bama fan, I'm looking forward to '10. I say that is the year the Tide will win an SEC crown and play for the MNC. JMHO.

Without opening the article or reading this thread I'm going to guess some unrealistic number that Gumps are eating up.
