When schools with all the resources to succeed, i.e. Kentucky and Arkansas, stop playing like bitches, grow a pair, and starting repping the SEC better.

Not that long MSU, UT, USC jr, UF, Arky among others were extremely young this year, i still don't think the SEC was as bad as ESPN thinks tho.

Earlier in the decade, the SEC was considered the deepest conference top to bottom, FWIW.

It's never been the most top heavy (i.e. ACC), but until this year, the SEC has always had just as many bids as the other power conferences.

UT, LSU, UF are probably the best coaching staffs and they should be good year in year out(Recruit & good game day). Looks like UA might screw their new hire up so i wouldn't look for anything from them for a while. Lebo did a great job with Auburn this year but they need more fan support to get the better recruits to compete in the Tourney, IMO. OM & ARKIE are both too early to tell although I like Pelfrey more than Kennedy but both could improve(both have young teams too). UK has issues. I don't know why but Gillespie looks like a fish gasping for water on the court. I just have a feeling that this was a bad marriage and the fan-base will run him out of town. So a good hire here and UK is right back in the hunt of things.

The SEC has sort of fallen behind in the resource base and facilities arms race compared to the ACC, Big Ten, and Big East. The overbearing importance of FB at places like Alabama, Auburn, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Miss. State, UGA, and even LSU has hurt SEC hoops.

Tenn. UK, Ark and Fla are the four schools which put the most into basketball and when those schools have bad years the entire conference suffers in perception. Let's face it. Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn, and SC pale in comparison to places like Purdue, Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. UK can match Michigan State and like UNC in facilities. The Big Ten goes ten deep into it's committment to hoops. I don't think you can say that about the SEC.

a bama fan and i agree for once. FOOTBALL IS KING- so even if the SEC had the 12 best teams in the country, they will not be considered the best

Mal is gonna pull a Saban BB hire out of his hat, wait and see. He knew who he was gonna get when he fired Gottfried, just like when he fired DumBose.

But I think Alabama will have to show that they're ready to spend some money on basketball. When was the last time the basketball facility was upgraded? Seems like every last dime Alabama has been spending has been going to football. I would think a big name coach would want some money pumped into the basketball program. Maybe Alabama will be in a position to do that after they finish the football facilities?

generally since the late 70's early 80's they have been. UF won two titles this decade, peeps seem to forget that. Arky, UK, UF will rebound, LSU looks to have a solid coach, UT is gonna be strong, MSU has a good year every three, USCe is building.

Just a year where most of the teams were young. SEC will be right back with 5-6 bids next yr I think
