15th pick in Round 2

Alabama legend in my book. He played the game the right way with the right attitude. Glad he went this high!

Our best football player last year.

took a little longer for him to go than I thought it would. But 47th overall is still a great honor for a player.
We should have 1 more go tonight in Brailsford, probably in round 3, then several tomorrow.

He’s an absolute steal no pun intended. He will be playing every single Sunday.

I really think he almost hurt himself by too good at too many things. He was seen as a bit of a "jack of all trades, master of none", except he is actually a master at all of them. I think he should have been a top 20 pick.

I'm actually glad that the Steelers had the Lemon debacle last night, I legitimately think Bernard is a better overall player and has a much more mature attitude. It'll be a blessing in disguise.

Kind of wish he hadn’t gone to the Steelers at first because they’ve had mediocre passing offense for years but forgot Tomlin is gone so maybe that’ll change (McCarthy isn’t exciting but his offenses are usually good). And the Steelers have no true WR no.2 to line up alongside Metcalf. So he should get a decent amount of targets

I’d be very curious when the last WR was picked top 20 that had a profile of 6’ 1.25” or shorter AND a 40 of 4.48 or worse.

Steelers are my second favorite pro team and I am pumped with this pick.

I said in the Ty thread, that interview with Lemon last night came across like he’s not all there.

According to Gemini, there have only been 3 this century.
1. Jaxon Smith-Njigba (2023, No. 20)
JSN is the most recent and precise answer to your question. He measured in just under your height limit and ran a 4.52. His draft stock remained high because he posted historic agility numbers (a 6.57 three-cone), suggesting he didn't need vertical speed to create massive separation in the intermediate game.
2. Michael Crabtree (2009, No. 10)
Crabtree is a fascinating case. He was measured at exactly 6' 1 1/4" (6' 1.25") and weighed 214 lbs. While he didn't run at the Combine due to a foot injury, his Pro Day and general scouting consensus placed his speed in the 4.54 to 4.56 range. He was the prototype "possession plus" receiver who dominated through hand strength and route technique.
3. Peter Warrick (2000, No. 4)
Warrick was a superstar at Florida State and was once the favorite for the No. 1 overall pick. However, he measured 5' 11" and ran a disappointing 4.58 on a grass surface (some timed him as high as 4.63). Despite the lack of speed, his "elusiveness" was considered so elite that Cincinnati still took him in the top 5.

Jalen Reagor was 5'11 4.47.
Pearsall 6'1 4.41.
Jahan Dotson 5'10 4.43
all recent first rounders, just off the top of my head. guarantee theres more.
edit: those arent exact. But they are in the same rough range. Pearsall didnt have the agility Bernard has, neither did Dotson. actually, neither did Reagor, because he couldn't separate in the NFL.
JSN, who you just mentioned, dominated the NFL last year with a similar profile to Germie.

Agree 100%. Lemon is out there and really immature. Granted he's only 21, but the last thing the Steelers need is another diva WR to manage.

They just signed Michael Pittman. They have a solid WR core now.

Makai Lemon went at 20 last night. He's 5 11" and ran a 4.48 at his pro day.

Anyone know where Josh Cuevas will go? I think he's a pretty good football player myself.

Didn't even think about him

A DeBoer player BTW.

USC announced it at 4.46 for his Pro Day, which is probably why Gemini missed it. But there are other places reporting a little slower as well. Either way, that’s a pretty similar speed and height profile as Bernard.
