Seems like he is never even on the fringe of being in contention at Augusta.

His finishes at the Masters are 39, 22, 17,12, 4, 8, Cut, Cut, and 36. So he's been in contention several years. The last 3 years have been rough though but that's been true for him in general. Hopefully his off-season surgery gets him back on track. He played really well at the Player's Championship.

Because JT is very inconsistent with his driver, he is one of the lowest percentage of fairways hit on the pga . He is very good if not great with his short game but if your scrambling every hole in the masters you will never be at the top of the leaderboard.

He is getting better at putting but has some headscratching 3 puts sometimes. He is a great player and I hope he gets a green jacket one day but Augusta doesn't fit his game very well.

Because JT is either on fire or very average on any given weekend. The odds of him putting it together at Augusta National just aren't great. I feel like he hasn't been a week in/week out consistently good golfer in quite some time. He's like a guy in the bigs that will hit 25-30 homers but he bats .200 and leads the league in strikeouts.

At his peak he's still a top 5-10 player in the world, he just doesn't play at his peak very often anymore

Don't roast me but his career has gone downhill since marriage. Nothing wrong with the more important things in life but time is spent better elsewhere.

He won $731,250 coming in 10th in the Player's Championship last month. He won 3.6 million for winning the RBC Heritage last April. I'm sure his wife thinks his time is being spent just fine.

The saying is there are “Horses for Courses.” Sometimes a course just doesn’t fit your game, your swing or your eye. Lee Trevino didn’t like or play well at Augusta National and he’s a 6-time major winner and aHall of Famer. That was probably partly due to his Tex-Mex blue collar background vs Augusta’s high brow exclusivity, but also the course didn’t fit his game.

I’m not equating Justin and Lee, just saying there are numerous examples of players who just couldn’t win on some courses.

He made the cut, barely. Let’s see what he does on the weekend.

I mean, he and Spieth both have been pretty inconsistent since starting their pro careers hot. I think JT is on his third caddie since since 2021. Granted one is a fill-in but it's hard to find consistency doing that.

JT is a momentum golfer anyways.

He has made the cut 9/11 times. Best finish is 4th.

That is pretty good. It's an elite field every year and its a course where you have to get some good breaks to win.

Mediocre is a little harsh.

Making the cut without doing much more is every bit the definition of mediocre, and he's missed the cut 2 of the past 3 years, so don't know why you got downvoted. But he doesn't have a good record in any major except the PGA, and he ain't got much of a record there outside of the two wins.

He's got 16 tour wins and two majors, so that's HOF, but he's probably shot his wad as far as big wins go.

no roast involved. my rother and i had this convo just this morning. he said most every great golfer had a wife and kids, family obligations. which is true. then i pointed out that the greatest to ever play, played competitively for what, 25 years? he only won 17 majors.

b4 anyone comes at me, no slight to tiger at all, i like tiger. but i'm old and jack has always been my guy. dang that sounded weird, lol.

He has two top 10 finishes in the last 6 years at Augusta.

How long did it take for Rory to win? Sergio? Is Justin Rose mediocre?

Claiming that making the cut at the Masters is mediocre is a retarded take. JAG on tour isnt even going to the Masters. JAG isnt going to the Ryder Cup and JAG isnt going to the HOF. The guy just had back surgery and yall are trying to bury him because he isnt winning the Masters. Yall are clowns.

He has one win in almost 4 yrs.

I love JT and want him to a green jacket but at this point he is JAG out there when it comes to listing off players to win majors moving forward.

Obviously he is better than the likes of golfers 75-100 in the FedEx cup.

He has two top 10s in ten years, and has gone Cut/Cut/36 the last three years, with an avg finish of about 25th outside of hit two top tens. Any pundit would say that's arguably mediocre.

We're talking contention, not wins. Try reading, clown. And Sergio would tell you his record at the Masters before winning was absolutely mediocre as it involved cuts and a large number of finishes in the top 30 or worse.

Nobody says not winning is mediocre. Is reading really this difficult, clown. Unbunch those panties, clown.

His 4th finish at ANCG in 2020 was -12 which in a lot of years would have won it but Johnson went -20 and on an absolute heater to have the lowest score in Masters history . Hard to beat a guy playing like that. He is in his early 30’s, he might snag the big win in the next few years.

Two top 10s, so mediocre.

Bozos. You clowns know nothing about golf.

The guy is the best golfer in UA history. He is still in his prime and we've got clowns calling him mediocre. Last year he did about the same in the masters and won the next week.

Trevino said many times that he loved the folks at Augusta, but the course requires a draw for you to compete, especially in the era he was playing, while he exclusively hit a fade. Only four holes on the entire course set up for a fade while, 2, 5, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14 require a draw for you to have any chance to score. It's why left handers do so well there. They can fade the ball and be set up to score.

There may be something to the course setting up poorly, but I think his approach may have hurt him some as well. I have been lucky enough to visit the Masters about 8 of the last 10 years. I've seen JT play in other tournaments and he's always been very personable and chatty during practice rounds, sometimes even tournament rounds and always returned a "Roll Tide". Each year at the Masters he was not interacting with the crowd, wouldn't acknowledge a "Roll Tide" and almost seemed in a bad mood or overly focused.

In 2024 I ran in Jay Seawell at the practice area and he saw me wearing a swinging elephants shirt that you get from being a golf booster. We chatted for a bit and I asked about JT, he said that he's always "tight as a drum" at ANGC. I think he want's to win there so badly that he's too tight and presses too much. Obviously, that's pure speculation, but he just doesn't seem to handle the pressure of that place well, whether he's putting in on himself or otherwise.
