Bruce was on sports talk radio in Atlanta probably a week ago and he said it likely takes $8-10MM to be a top tier team now and he had just over $4MM in his last year.

Did anyone catch his comments about the Hubert Davis firing last night? He was talking about how there's not much loyalty left in the game anymore, and followed it up by saying "that's why I'm sitting here."

Does lack of NIL money = lack of loyalty?

I don't think that's his point at all. 2 separate issues.

Any site that want's you to agree without a disagree option. Because I see no good reason to support such an unscrupulous business.

Is it? Several high profile coaches have retired in the last 3-4 years for that reason. Sure it got exhausting for the old school guys especially.

Not arguing

But these figures don't tally
quote:

By Chris Marler The SEC has been known as a football first conference for years. The vice grip they’ve had on the gridiron has started to slip a little after not winning, or even playing for, a national title in the last three years. That dominance has shifted to other sports in recent years, particularly basketball, where the arms race for relevance on the hardwood has reached an all-time high. On Monday, Matt Brown of Extrapointsmb.com released the operating budgets for more than 200 men’s basketball programs across America for the 2025 fiscal year. It should be noted that only 14 SEC teams were included in Brown’s report, with Florida and Vanderbilt not listed. The budget figures also do not include any revenue-sharing payments. Here is a look at the budget for all 14 SEC schools that were in the report, including where each program ranked nationally.

By the Numbers

Tennessee – $23,183,445
Texas – $22,403,330
Arkansas – $21,254,027
Kentucky – $20,787,671
Auburn – $20,535,097
Ole Miss – $18,228,378
Alabama – $15,230,392
Missouri – $14,354,000
Texas A&M – $14,318,327
Oklahoma – $13,662,135
Mississippi State – $12,220,602
LSU – $11,104,405
South Carolina – $11,074,153
Georgia – $10,400,030

Yes it is. Because his statement is unclear. He is talking about UNC's loyalty to Hubert to make his point there is no loyalty in basketball then finishes with that's why I am sitting here.

Auburn was very loyal to him. Only three significant players were not loyal to him: Davion Mitchell, Aden, and CBM, and he has dealt with trivial amounts of disloyalty from his staff. Auburn also weathered his first three years and then weathered the FBI investigation with all faith in Bruce.

Really his "that's why I am sitting here" comment looks like Bruce is trying to make everything about him.

I agree the comment doesn't make a ton a sense, but Bruce definitely doesn't think that AU was unloyal to him. That's not what he meant.

Hubert was fired because he wasn't meeting the standard.

This is true. The Sweet 16 is pretty much the floor for UNC and he only got there twice in five years. Meanwhile, Duke has been on the rise after Scheyer stepped in after one of the all timers left with not much of a dip.
