Why do we event pretend the conference depth are the same?

The level of talent in the SEC is still so much greater. Sure the B10 has 4 substantial programs now, but the depth is still night and day between the SEC and the rest.
The B12 & ACC should only get 2 guaranteed spots when we expand.
The G6 isn’t even playing the same sport.
Players invited to NFL Combine by conference via McMuphy
SEC 115
Big Ten 83
ACC 50
Big 12 45
MAC 5
American 4
If we went to 18 teams to be even with the B10 and added the most rumored (UNC and Clemson) we’d have 126 & the ACC would fall to 39.

To be fair this more indicative of what football was like around 2022. Combine 3-4 years from now would paint a better picture of what today’s college football looks like.

Eh, all 6 of Mizzou’s combine participants were transfers. In this age, the draft still reflects NIL, development and talent acquisition.

Good for mizzou but thankfully mizzou isn’t the only sec team, most of uga and bama guys aren’t.

We have the most and best depth if you look at it by metrics and power ratings from top to bottom.
The top half of the B1G is a little better than the top half of the SEC, but our bottom is much better than their bottom.
The ACC and Big 12 are not even close. They combine for less than half a dozen top 25 teams by metrics

The acc has won overall h2h games against the sec the last 3 seasons.

The SEC has embarrassed itself the last 3 seasons not even making the playoff championship game.

This makes no sense as the majority of players that will be in the draft 4 years from now were not even in college this past year or were hidden on the depth chart.

H2H wins are important but you need to put it in perspective.
Wake Forest vs Miss State was not a equal matchup. That was a bottom SEC team vs a top half ACC team. Likewise, Virginia (2nd best in ACC) vs Mizzou (barely top half SEC) was not a even matchup. More relevant comparisons would be LSU vs Clemson this year, who were about equal in conference standings
