Using bracket matrix’ current projections.

Alabama
Arizona
Arkansas
Auburn

Connecticut
Duke
Houston
Illinois
Kentucky
Miami (OH)
Michigan
Nebraska
Purdue
Texas Tech

Those 14 teams are the entire list, and one of those lacks a win against the field as well. For four of those to be from the SEC is impressive. The Big 10 also has four. The Big 12 has three. The ACC and Big East each have just one.

I am not understanding this statistic. It reads to me as these teams have not lost a game to any team that is projected to make the tournament. UConn lost to Arizona and I am pretty sure that Arizona will make the tournament.

So explain it to me like I am a 5th grader please.

Also this stat…

Wins against the Projected At-large teams minus losses to teams projected outside the field:

+8 Arizona, Duke, Michigan

+7 Alabama, Purdue

+6 Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan State, Tennessee

+5 Auburn, Florida, Houston, Vanderbilt

+4 Arkansas, Gonzaga, Nebraska

The SEC with 7 of the Top 16 teams in this metric. That’s impressive.

Georgia, Texas, and Texas A&M are all +2. Missouri is a net 0.

I think ultimately we get ten teams in and quite frankly all ten should be safely in IMO. Missouri is probably a stretch.

Well BM has UGA in the field and I am certain that AU lost to UGA so I don't have a clue what this means.

Me and WG are going to be over here blowing bubbles.

Wait that sounded bad. Maybe playing pick up sticks instead.

Sorry. Title updated

Undefeated against teams OUTSIDE the field is how it should read.

Don't get your panties in a wad, I am just trying to understand sir, take it easy, I come in peace.

So these are teams with only losses to teams IN the field, then correct?

The conference is deeper than people are giving it credit for just because it's not as absurdly deep as it was the past few years.

We also don't have (except maybe Florida) that one team that looks like it'll go the distance, like Michigan.

Agree. IMO we have ten teams that have very impressive resumes relative to the field. I struggle to understand why Texas is even in the last 4 in for some folks.

Texas has 4 wins against the projected field. They do have two wins to teams outside. But they are being seeded behind teams like UCLA and USC who have just one and two wins against the projected field, respectively…. And they two each have two losses to teams outside. Texas has a much better resume than those two IMO.

Yes. Where is last year we had 4 such teams. This year we have one that’s borderline.

One other gripe I’ve got is how the teams from the West Coast Conference and the Mountain West get treated with kid’s gloves.

I get it that Gonzaga is good. But the hoops that people jump through to boost St Mary’s and Santa Clara to try try to justify Gonzaga’s piss poor conference is unbelievable.

St. Mary’s is safely in the field by most every bracketologist despite being 0-3 against the projected field… losing to Vandy by 25, Gonzaga by 8, and Santa Clara by by 8. They also have one loss outside the projected field… losing to Boise State by 1.

Santa Clara is also one of the last teams in by most bracketologists despite also being 1-2 against the projected field with the one win over… You guessed it… St Mary’s. Santa Clara lost to St Louis by 1, and Gonzaga by 12. Where their resume really becomes questionable is their three losses outside the field: New Mexico (by 27 points!), Arizona State, and to horrific Loyola Chicago (NET #309). A Quad 4 loss.

Sorry but the WCC should be a one bid league. LSU, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma would mow through those schedules much more impressively.

Not to mention, Gonzaga lost to a horrible Portland team by 7 points.

Exactly. Gonzaga typically escapes criticism for their easy schedule because they at least load up their OOC schedule with tough opponents. This season was less than stellar though:

Against the projected field:

Lost to 1-seed Michigan by 40.
Beat 5-seed Alabama by 10.
Beat 7-seed Kentucky by 35.
Beat 10-seed UCLA by 10.
Beat 10-seed St Mary’s by 8.
Beat 11-seed Santa Clara by 12.

None of those were true road games. A solid resume for sure, but when you add in the loss to NET #203 Portland, I’m not sure they deserve the 3/4 line as most have them projected.
